I'm going to be disappointed if Blount doesn't miss at least half of the season

So I'm a caveman when your the halfwit making outrageously racist assumptions about how he's going to be a drug dealer and smoke blunts. OK...
I'm concerned with how challenging it is for you to understand that college football players are generally not in college for their degree. It is widely know that "student athlete" is the biggest joke about the NCAA. Sure he would have a diploma (still will I'm betting), but what is he gonna do with it? I'm sure its in a worthless subject.

Racist that he would say that? I do not think race had anything to do with it. IF he linked Ramar Smith to this guy that would be racist. If he remembers Onterrio Smith who left UT because he couldnt stop buying and smoking the stank and that he loved his time at Oregon, I would say that is pretty accurate.

Shoot if they had not caught Travis Henry, he would be up near Boise State right now trying to sell drugs to the non mormons of the area.

So brewer, when is the proper setting to punch him then?

There isn't really a "proper" time to punch someone.

But, if you're man enough to run your mouth, don't be surprised when the other guy is man enough to bust your lip.

Both parties were wrong. Blount should, and certainly will be, suspended. But, I'm sure that punk from Boise St. will think before he talks shiz again.

I can see where someone saying the wrong thing at the wrong time based on my emotional state could result in an impulsive aggressive response. Matter of fact, I have done that. And I will be very impressed if any of you have not or will not through course of your life.

You do stupid stuff, you apologize and you take the medicine. Part of life. So far the player is responding well to his momentary lack of control.

Haha cute. Not as much defending as saying the dude got what he deserved.

Alright, no one has truly ever made me angry on this forum until now Brewerw!!

No one "deserves" to get jaw-jacked for simply SAYING something. That is unacceptable and honestly, if you believe that then mentally you are still 15 years old Brewerw! That is not how a mature adult acts and I don't care if he or she plays sports or not! That doesn't justify it one iota! One of the absolute tell-tale signs of maturity is having control over your emotions and this guy does not! He does not deserve the privilege of playing college football and should be kicked off the team.

just wondering why the Oregon player is considered a mature adult while other "kids" get a pass

He could've refrained from doing all the bad-mouthing about Kiffin at the time, but he's still a kid so he gets a pass for that.

Oh come ON utvolpj. HUGE difference between publicly criticizing your former coach and being a neanderthal and throwing a punch! (one at your own team mate and one at an opposing player). The two are completely incomparable!

I understand that but they are either both kids or both mature adults. Which one is it? Can't pick and choose based on where they went to HS

even tho blount shldn't have continued to fight w/ fans, coaches, security. i however like the fact he laid out that p.o.s. player who had no class after the game when he went up to blount and taunted him. watching that guy melt in his coaches hands brings a smile to my face. i bet he'll think twice before pulling crap like that again

I went to sleep before this happened last night. I can't believe he jacked the guy up like that. I have seen much worse jawing between schools with no blow up.

I don't feel too sorry for the idiot who ran up and obviously said something stupid, if you run your mouth you gotta be prepared for what comes in return. You have to man up and take responsibility for your actions, you flap your jaw and it might get jacked up, which in this case it did.

On the other side of the coin Blount has to take responsibility for his actions, he was out of control and I tend to think from watching this blow up of his he has some rather serious anger management or self control issues. Not exactly what you look for in a representative or leader for your universities football team. His actions after the punch speak much more about him than the quick reaction to an insult, in the heat of the moment things like this can sometimes happen (though rarely). The fact that he continued his out of control behavior should send red flags to the university, especially since he has had other problems. It will be interesting to see what the NCAA and Oregon coaches do here.

Tell that to Woody Hayes.

I have no problem with the punch. I would also have no issue if the cops came and arrested him on assault charges (like any other citizen would be).

Pretty straight forward, both were out of line but the jawing is to be expected. What isn't expected is throwing a punch and having to escorted off the field because you can't control yourself and pose a risk to other people at a football game.

I understand where you are coming from to a certain extent but to say throwing a punch in that situation is not a problem is going a bit far. Had he retaliated by a push to the face or chest to get him out of his face I wouldn't have any problem what so ever.

If it was just two guys on the street I would be on board with your statement. These are guys representing themselves, their respective universities and the game of college football though.

I understand that but I've always felt if you're man enough to talk trash to someone you don't know then expect to get called on it. Some people just react differently

that said, with all the claims from BSU about their winning streaks you would think they would have learned to do it with class

I thought Peterson's comments after the game were interesting - he didn't defend his player. I'm sure he doesn't agree his player deserved a punch but does think if you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

Peterson is smart enough to use this as a coaching moment.

The Oregon coach on the other hand has a major issue on his hands. This has great potential to divide the team.

It was one guy taunting a guy who taunted the whole BS team before the game.

I don't think this incident says anything about the class of either team.

One jackass got cocky, one jackass lost his mind.

Has the phrase "all around jackassery" been coined yet?

Absolutely, it appears as though he has very little control over this team. Not just because some idiot got out of control but because this team was in no way prepared or disciplined for this game. He better turn it around quick or it will be a long year.

Blount's punch, while reprehensible, is understandable, but the stupidity thereafter should end his sports career, and likely will.
