If someone here can thoroughly convince me why I should.

What makes this man the best choice for our country?

(Please try to stick to Mr. McCain's strengths and virtues; I can read Obama bashing on the other 50 threads here :) )

He's right, at least with higher gas prices we are forced to look at alternative forms of energy. How much oil do you think we have left? You think prices are bad now, wait until 2012 when we still don't have viable alternative energies. It's not a popular opinion, but here's the beautiful thing about energy in this capitalist society, if the prices get high and you want to change it, you can stop using it. Not practical? Too bad, that's how it works. Anything that weens people off oil works for me.

Silly argument. Fuel is not the only thing affected by the high price of crude. I guess kids need to stop drinking milk, roads should stop being paved, roofs need to be covered with hope and change instead of tar and shingles. Tell the truckers that they need to use less diesel to deliver the goods in their trucks. Tell the truckers to use alternate fuel sources to haul the food to your family and mine.

Change happens, but it usually happens slowly and methodically. When change comes too quickly mistakes are made and future generations suffer. I'm all for alternate fuel sources, but when something is available to relieve the pressure most american households are feeling right now I'm for it. How can we just sit here and watch China pump oil out of what is rightfully ours?

And, high fuel prices on top of high taxes doesn't sound appealing to me, does it to you? I mean do you like the idea of high fuel prices and high taxes? If it doesn't bother you then I guess you could afford one of those new fangled hydrogen cars. I can't.

How is it silly? The whole point of my argument is that we are in the beginning stages of an energy crisis. We are going to run out of oil, there is no way around it. We have known this for years, and what do we have to show for it?

Let me put it another way, if you think food and other product prices are high now, wait until oil prices get even higher, what will happen in turn?

And no, I can't afford a hydrogen car. However, I do know how to reduce my consumption.
