Why is it necessary? Why is that the only choice? Perhaps 25+ years of limiting ourselves to our own reseources has made it necessary. If that is the reason, it is a stipid one.

What other choice do we have? This isn't the first time in history that it has been necessary for the public to sacrifice for the greater good.

What do you mean what other choice do we have? Perhaps using what we have. How about that choice. If alternative energies emerge and prove to be efficient and cost effective...yea!! then I am all for it. Until then, it is moronic to not use what we have.

I believe I already touched on that. I am all for drilling whatever the hell we have to drill, but in 10 years, even if we get relief now, we are back where we started.

I wasn't pointing at you.

When you are starving, you take what you can to get you through today. You don't complain about how you'll be starving in 10 years.

I'm not picking on you e, but two things... a) why do all the libs here talk about sacrifice? and b) i get really nervous when anyone starts mentioning the greater good.

A fine point, but relief won't be here in the near future regardless of who is President, or what is allowed to be drilled.

a) I don't really know that I see them all talking about sacrifice, but I will stick with what I said originally, nothing is ever gained without sacrifice. Progress and sacrifice go hand in hand.

b) Ahh, must be the dirty hippie communist in me.

You're right it will not help tomorrow. I am not being a smartass, but I am somewhat confident that this country will still be here in 10 years. That being the case, get that stuff out of the ground!!!!!!!

I think somewhere in there, we agree on something. I gave a bunch of refrigerant to a shady looking f*** a few days ago, hmmm :)

A) I think we can progress without having to suffer finacially or othewise.

B) At least you admit it.

It is Saturday night, why are you not out getting drunk?

I am supposed to be working on a speech actually. This was a pretty solid debate so I am slacking. I do have until Tuesday though so I am not in big trouble with it yet. Homework beer sounds good though.

Homework beer rocks. Goes something like this if I remember correctly:

"Wow, I just wrote a sentence, time for a beer."

... Back to the meat of the thread.

Tim, you fail. He wanted to hear the positives of McCain, not the negatives of Obama. Sit this round out unless you can answer the man's post.

I would like to see this thread develop properly as well.

Truth of the matter is.. This is actually a vote of the better of the two. The two nominees are neither my first or second choice. The request at the beginning of the thread was convince me to vote Mccain. I can only point out the positives that exceed BO, IMO.

Fact of the matter is, whomever is elected I will not act as many have acted toward our present president. I simply do not believe in bashing our president, while in office. My opinion on this is that he is our leader and it is my duty to support him/her. I will disagree, but I would never engage in such things I see frequently leveled against GHWB. Until then, I'm for Mccain because I feel he will serve my family and country better than BO.

I'd love one. And I'll buy you a drink.

That is if I can still afford to drive to the bar.
