Yeah, if you think they all pitched great, good for you.
I guess if you think Arkansas, Kentucky, A&M, Mississippi State, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Ole Miss all pitched great in every single game they ever pitched in then good for you too. I swear some of y’all are miserable little piss ants.

Blame the conference for holding the tourney in the first place. It's a waste of time. You have teams play a 30-game conference schedule--30 games!---and then say, OK, now, let's have a tournament, too--and give the winner an automatic bid? It's dumb. The tourney won't affect our NCAA seeding. There is nothing for the top-tier conference teams to play for, and they know it. When you've just finished playing 30 games against all or most of your conference foes, you don't need even more games to determine who should be in the NCAA tourney.
Exactly. The regular season champ is THE champ. When we were lucky to make Hoover, the SECT was all important to me. With the arrival of Tony V, the program has evolved and our aspirations and goals are now Omaha and natty's. The SECT is nothing but an annoyance and money maker for some. I'd much rather do what we need to do to prime the pump for the NCAAT then get out of Hoover and get home. We don't get out of the supers or....shudder....not even make those while winning the SECT and how much comfort will a meaningless SECT title bring most Vol fans?

I wasn’t commenting on those teams. How you defend pitching that gives up 13 runs & 15 hits baffles me but you do you. Lipscomb bombed some of those same guys. They’ve all had their chances to step up thru the season but facts are the team has 6-7 arms they can count on at this point. 6-7 they can’t. Most of the guys that pitched vs Vandy Wed we’re in the later group.

I’m not miserable but I’m no cheerleader shaking poms poms either

Every team only has 7-9 pitchers they fully trust at this point. Others step up when given a chance and some just get experience for next year. And some realize they are in over their heads and move down. Every year this board says we need 15 guys and every year we are at 7-9 at the most.

What TV did was totally necessary to identify who or which players were going to be available. If you think he is going to use 8 pitchers in the first game of a regional or super or World Series then you have it wrong.

I thought it was clever. We have done what we wanted in Hoover. It was a training event. Keeping the bats fresh against high competition and identifying who can come in at clutch moments.
The tournament has been a great training session for games to come.

Example the field is bigger than ours so you have to adjust. Sure they have played on fields this size but it appears that TV has used it as a training session vs lose two and go home.

Keeping the iron warm is just a important. The SEC is quality pitching and hitting and we are winning games with little desperation. Sometimes winning ugly/differently is good. Tight games are just as important. Vandy got out of control.

It is not about the fan, it is about what is best for the team to prepare going forward.

For people that think adjusting pitching throughout a season is so simple then why don’t you try it and see how hard that is. These guys have to prepare for all of their classes and scout their opponents nonstop. To many things going on during a season to make real strides. The real work is done in the offseason (ie Blake Burke).

Thank you. Last night was the most brutal game thread I’ve been a part of and that’s saying something. It seemed like it was lost on so many what had happened. It went from a meaningless game to a meaningful game because we held up our end and in large part because UNC did not. Then we win, as we have, MORE than any team this year, they’re out.

Winning means I get to watch the Vols play today. That alone makes it meaningful.
I miss being able to participate in fun game threads.

Very upset about yesterday and the lack of caring. Even though I told my son and his friends thats what was going to happen. We live in Hoover so no travel expenses and all but we dont get to see the baseball team play often.
Spend money for a Cabana and food and all and get that effort.. ugh.
My 11 year old was in bad mood all night.. we dont go to games due to the 5 hour about drive but we watch every one possible on the secn + and espn + and he was like dad they dont care
very irritating
on to today
Still venting or happy with CTV’s plan?

SEC Regular and Tournament Champs has a nice ”Put a Ring” sound to it.
