I'm hearing Worley is possibly out...

Worley and Peterman were our football program's highly recruited Quarterback savior at one point. Now everyone hates Worley and is blowing up Ferguson and Dobbs like they used to blow up Worley when he rode the bench. I still remember all the people hailing Worley as our next Heisman hopeful gunslinger.

The idea that Butch has a clearly better quarterback riding the pine while Worley goes out and limps through each game is ridiculous to me. If those two were good enough to play, they would be playing already. What's going to happen if Butch plays them and they most likely struggle against Florida's great defense in the swamp? Will people write them off and bash them too? From what I've seen on here in my almost 4 years on this forum, people probably will. And it's sad. Give them time to develop and let Butch decide when they're ready.

Go Vols. Beat the Gators.

Sadly CAVol that's just our Negavols...All Hail the Players, Coaches, or Recruits until *1* thing goes the opposite way the Negavols think, in their minds, it should go or should have gone...then with that *1* thing that went against the way the Negavol thought it should, they are calling for that player or coaches (recruits too, who knows?) head/job!!! As I have been saying & I'm very glad that you said it too, in a different way-*Give them time to develop!!!* I've been saying- do y'all HONESTLY wanna be stuck in the vicious vicious cycle that we have been stuck in since Fulmers head was called for & taken??? You have to give a Coach (& especially as good a Coach as Butch Jones is) time to do what needs to be done to ***Completely & Totally*** rebuild an entire program...people want it *NOW*, if they don't get the results they want *right now*, then it's over & they no longer back that Coach or Player!!! (Now Worley, he's a lil bit of a different story in my eyes cause his hasn't been just *1* mistake-his mistakes are CONSTANT & CONTINUAL, so IMO he's a different story) but you HAVE to have patience, if not then your in that vicious cycle I was talking bout-hire & fire every 3 years or so...& the Negavols will just continue to get more & more pissed off cause they wanted the Coach gone cause the job wasn't getting done the way the Negavol wanted- ***Be Patient & "Give Them Time to Develop"!!! Otherwise, if we can't get our program *Finally* rebuilt then we'll *NEVER EVER* get out of this cycle we've been stuck in for YEARS now!!! (Since the end to the Fulmer era...) Have a great day everybody, & GO BIG ORANGE!!! ***VFL***

To be fair , it isn't one thing with Worley . Its been three games

Bray was clearly better than Simms from the get-go his freshmen year. We just didn't want to expose him to the toughest part of our schedule with our inexperienced O-line at the time.

We have an experienced O-line this year. We shouldn't be gun shy to put the best option on the field, IMO.

I know that you have much more inside info than most ever do on this board but again I ask if you weren't at the closed practice how could you know that they didn't take any snaps? Seriously asking... Not being mean

I'm still on west coast from Oregon game but I do talk with people every day..

I really hope that the offensive line is ready to go because this game can be won because of them. Pound the rock. 22/23, 26/27. Those are the plays I want to see getting 4-5 yards a carry. We can do it.

If it makes you feel any better there are two ways Tennessee wins on Saturday and a different qb isn't going to make a difference.

1. Florida gives the game away

2. Tennessee's offensive line completely mauls florida's defensive line

Incorrect, a QB change could make a huge difference.

If we get a mobile QB in there that is a little more of a threat to keep on the read-option, it basically robs the defensive front of a man in the play, allowing our O-line a better opportunity to dominate.

If we have a QB that is more dangerous in the passing game, they can't key to stop the run, thus opening up the running game and allowing our O-line a better opportunity to dominate.

This ^ also according to Heather Harrington on Sports Animal last night, she said they all practiced and none really stood out.

If Larry is right and it's just Worley and Peterman getting snaps then why would the University let a reporter for their "flagship" station report that all 4 took reps with the 1 and 2's? I think it sets us up for disappointment if Worley gets the nod. Otherwise just don't say anything about open competition.

Or: It says, "Yep, we had open competitions and the best QB started. It's what we have to work with, guys."

I can't imagine a member of the media to lie, but seriously she sounded legit and didn't make much of a big deal of it. If in fact that is untrue and her report was wrong then the only thing I could gather as to why they had her report that would be just a smokescreen.

I watched the replay of all of UT's offensive plays thinking that I would come away hating Worley's performance--and I didn't. Yea, he missed a couple of passes, as I recall, but most of the misses were the result of our receivers being well-covered. That's a fact. I think we need to see him work with our slot receivers, when they are healthy, and wideouts that are gaining experience. I think Worley is better than Crompton--makes better decisions, anyway. One problem is that he's not running the ball with the read-option. Whether Peterman can do that, or throw it better than Worley, is a major question.

So coach Jones says he is opening back up the QB competition and then promptly doesn't let anyone other than Worley take first team reps? (perhaps Peterman got reps with the first team? Reports are conflicting)

Regardless, wtf is going on here?

Very true. But how about a QB who can do both? Really none of the 3 are just pocket passers or are run first QB's. But Worley gives us very little run option and isnt a good passer, only thing he has done well is not turn the ball over.

I was basically just commenting on the post that said our QB situation has no bearing on the running game. It does (edit: agreeing with you :good!:).

To answer your questions, I really don't know what we do. I really have no insight into the progession, strengths or weaknesses of the three behind Worley. I haven't liked what I've seen out of Worley, tbh. Peterman hasn't impressed from what I've seen from him. I've seen almost nothing from the freshmen.

It's coach's boat to steer. He has more info than any of us. I'll have to trust his judgment, watch recruiting, and hope for better times ahead.

With the conflicting reports on yesterday's practice, I'd say CBJ is keeping his cards very close to the vest. JMO
