I'm hearing Worley is possibly out...

I have to believe Peterman of Fergurson have better wheels for the read option. In order for this scheme to work there has to be a threat of the QB running the ball.

I was under the impression that Peterman was a read option guy in high school. I looked for him to dethrone Worley at some point this year as it was. I have no idea if Riley can run or not.

Per Jimmy Hyams this morning. He must know something he said he expects an announcement to be made today.

Hyams is pretty conservative, I tend to believe this.

I think with the injuries and an obvious need to amp up the offense, it wouldn't be impossible to think Butch would consider bringing in a quarterback who can also run the football.

I seriously doubt the competition has ever been closed. That's the sad part. I hate talking bad about whoever the qb is but Worley is just missing open wr's so badly. It's like night and day with him, that TD pass he threw to Croom was an absolute laser beam and right on the money, then, well you know what happened after that.

I thought the coaching staff limited Worley's play book options for Oregon (in another thread). If that's true, then it's pretty weird that the QB competition would resume.

We'll see what happens. I trust that the coaching staff will put the best option out there on Saturday.

But is it a good idea to put a new QB in 5 days before playing in the swamp? Not to mention a QB who has never even been to the swamp before? I'm just asking because I truly don't know. I guess it can't be any worse, but just what are some other "realistic" opinions?

There are none. We have four options. Two of them will be redshirted, barring catastrophy.

Remaining two options:

A QB that can't throw or run (and has proven woefully ineffective). A QB that is more mobile and may be able to throw (may be effective).

That's pretty much all of our realistic options.

Agreed swamp is always a tough place to play. But living in florida I can tell you florida fans (a lot of bandwagon) are off the wagon after the Miami loss. Still a lot of tickets available, so maybe it wont be as loud which would help out Peterman in his starting debut. Still, if he starts in the swamp and does well (no jitters or bad turnovers), I think we'll have found a starter for the next 3 yrs +.

Butch is smart. Worley will play in the Swamp, and the competition should be to see who gets the nod against South Alabama. There is no reason to throw either of the freshmen to the gators in the Swamp.

Jones changed QBs 9 games into the season at Cincy, and they were already having a good year.

I get your point. But it seems like TN is just forfieting the game against UF if we start Worley given he is not a running threat at all, and is barely servicable as a passer.

We are facing one of the best defenses in the Country saturday. But TN has a small chance at victory because of UF's woes on O.

If we come in with a new QB maybe it will catch UF off guard. I don't want to just give up this game.

You did not have to hear it. I watched Worley possibly working his way out of the starting position Saturday.

I'm all for letting Peterman get a look but changing QBs won't keep our defense from sucking anymore. We aren't stopping anyone and that just as worrisome.

I don't think Peterman will really be the answer either.

He seems to have a slower delivery than Worley and he stares down his receivers. Of course, he's only gotten 12 throws total.

He didn't even look very good against Oregon's 3rd Team. Florida's 1st Team will bring many crashing back down to Earth.

I don't like the idea of playing a True Freshman but this stretch will be painful one way or another, might as well try to get someone experience. Because whoever our QB is next year... they'll be scrambling for their lives with 4 or possibly 5 new starting OL.

AMEN!!! im 32 and have been going to vols games all my life up till 2003 when I moved to Florida, so I hate Florida more than anyone, even (just barely) more than BAMA!! I hate, hate, hate losing to UF. yearly I have hope that we'll beat them like red headed step children so I can have bragging rights for a year. Not giving up on this game either.

:sick:I think coach will stick it out with Worley this week, then make a change against South Alabama, he might pull Worley in the second quarter instead of the 3rd, boys we got to do something it dont feel good going in a game thinking you got zero chance of winning, i know we are young but we got to get something out of the QB.

Tend to agree with you. About the only thing he can do is actually make the zone read a real threat unlike Worley. But he does hold the ball and deliver it very slow.
