I'm rooting for Georgia!

I may be the odd man out around here, but I'm pullinh for the Dawgs! I'm hoping UGA and UM meet in the championship game and Georgia wins a tight one. I like close, exciting games, especially between blue-blood programs. And I root for UT first, then the SEC East second, then the SEC third. I don't want anyone claiming that Tennessee is in a weak conference or that they play a soft schedule. I like it when Tennessee beats strong teams like Florida or LSU. It means nothing to me when UT beats Akron or Wyoming. It also looks good when teams we play win out. If Georgia loses to OSU (God forbid) or UM, then the logical claim will be that OSU or UM could beat Tennessee. Nope, sorry. If Tennessee is going to lose to UGA in the regular season and get knocked out of championship contention, then I want UGA to win it all so that our loss to them doesn't look as bad.

It makes no sense to me when people root against other SEC teams when they're playing non-conference foes, especially in bowl games. I understand the recruiting edge we get when we win and other SEC teams lose, but I don't think that rationale holds much water; there are plenty of great players to go around. I also understand rooting for higher-ranked teams to lose so that we might get a bump up in the standings. But that probably won't happen with any of the top-4 teams, and nobody remembers the rankings anyway. They only remember the bowl wins and championships.

So I'll be pulling for Georgia this weekend. Go SEC!
F*** Ga , so their.

Whatever your team is you cheer for , I believe the conference is really only as good as your top 2-3 teams. One team from each conference really had only one close game . When your boat racing every team in your conference by 30 points how can anyone say their conference is tough . In the SEC this year their was one really good team in Ga. Then their was Tenn and Alabama . The rest sucked sewer water. If your conference was really tough you sure as hell wouldn’t be boatracing 90% of your competition. If everybody was stacked with as much depth as Georgia then you would see who the really good coaches are. F*** Ga. Hope TCU beats their ass.

Why I want Georgia to lose. It’s pretty simple.

I want to get into the playoffs. (It will be easier with a 12 team playoffs.). We play Georgia every year. Georgia winning NC helps them get stronger (recruiting) and makes our job of getting in playoffs harder.

It's helps the conference prestige. Kids want to play in the SEC. There is a reason we normally put 11-12 of our 14 teams in bowl games every year. Playing in the SEC means you're gonna be on national television more often than not. If all the teams in the SEC lost their games to out of conference foes every year we'd be the ACC.
This is my thought as well although it doesn't appear to be the popular opinion. SEC teams win thus giving fans the "but they don't play anyone and we play in the SEC" argument.

I'm still dumbfounded how people legitimately think Georgia winning helps us.

I was pulling for Georgia because I hate hearing every year how a 20 loss Big Ten school is better than a 1 loss SEC school because they had to play 20 Catholic schools for Nuns and Nuns can be tough.

NOW, I am pulling for TCU by fiddy.

There's no team I dislike more than Ohio State. It's hard for me to imagine a situation where I would root for them, unless a win somehow benefitted UT. To move up, we needed TCU to lose and OSU to lose big. We are probably now stuck at #6.

See, here's where I'm lost I guess. So what if we move up a couple of spots in the final poll. Yes, I get it, we can brag, but that's literally it. Cheering for Georgia to win, and then winning, actually does more than giving them a brag. We'll suffer in recruiting from it, and suffer when we can't catch them in recruiting because they won. Recruits aren't going to say "I know Georgia won the title, but I'm going to Tennessee because Georgia won, and Tennessee moved up a spot in the final polls". Crap on bragging about a final poll spot, #1 is all that matters, and if Georgia is there, it hurts us, period.

I live in GA and know their fans very well. None worse. Not only no but HELL NO! I'll never, ever pull for UGA. I'd pull for bama, OSU and ND before the mangy mutts.
It think it all depends on where you live and who you’re surrounded by. I grew up in FL in the 90’s so UF was naturally my most hated team. When I moved to KY after graduating from UT, I had never had a disdain for UK other than bball but after a few years in KY I found myself rooting for whoever they played; UF included. I moved to middle TN in the James Franklin run at Vandy and Vandy and the bandwagon fans (mostly transplants) became enemy #1. Fast forward to today and living in Alabama it’s obviously Alabama that I get the most joy out of seeing lose and even Auburn is approaching that level, despite having Auburn alums in my family and myself coming very close to attending AU.

We can hate em all we want but they are about to win back to back NC's and quite possibly play for a 3rd straight in 2023. Have you seen their absolute joke of a schedule? I mean seriously.......our Vols are about the only team with a solid chance to challenge them. Its insane.
