Hey buddy, take your behind back to the kentucky hills. Remember this blue boy. The squid only beat Pearl one time and always had the best talent. Not sure what makes you hillbillys think anything will change! We will embarrass the mildcats in Knoxville, not sure about in the nasty Rump Arena, but I say yes.

He's a river rat not a hillbilly . LOL

Here are two issues that the highly ranked recruits will have for KY:

1. Chemistry. It will take them a while to form together as a team with so many Freshmen.
2. There will not be enough shots for all of them which will lead to frustration.

Fab 5 had that problem also:unsure:

As long as you dont say you didnt mention Cal and then mention him , it's all good.:)

No, actually I said that I mentioned him but then didn't, but that was in another thread. I just found the spelling humorous.

I don't really have like or dislike for Cal, but that will probably change now that he is at UK. I do have enough sense to respect him as a coach, and I view the situation as equivalent to if the Third Reich had hired Patton; any way you cut it, it can't bode well for the good guys.

The reason Kentucky's getting so much press coverage is because they have the best recruiting class and best coach in the conference. They will go on to take their rightful place back at the top of the college basketball world in the near future.

Also, this is the year the football team puts Tennessee's winning streak to bed. Right next to Auburn's old streak.

To the Kentucky haters: :shhh:

The problem with your idiotic fanbase is that they sing this same refrain, year after year, whether there is any basis or not. The recruits are the best, the coach is a genius, this is the year, in football and basketball.

Your class is very good, I respect your coach, and your football team doesn't look as awful as it did when Florida was making the lights change fast enough on Commonweath's scoreboard to give half the Cat fans seizures. A broken clock is right twice a day, but that doesn't make you or your ilk any smarter.

I'll hate Kentucky as loudly as I please, right up until the point that one of your daft boosters has another FedEx package full of payola break open in transit, and the NCAA places your corrupt program back in the penalty box where it belongs. At that point, I will hate Kentucky more loudly than ever.

Nice avatar. How did his games against Tennessee turn out? Also, which NFL roster is he on now?

I think UT plays better under Pearl as underdogs, so we can just wait and see KY, I hate u UK fans so much, yall are just like Bama's fb teams that always refer to years past. Try fielding a fb team that can beat us, maybe Andre Woodson(NO), Tim Couch (NO), and Randall Cobb (NO). Oh HEFTY LEFTY(NO)! I guess its impossible.

Fact is we own Kentucky in football. If they couldn't win in the last three years, especially last year, they may never beat the big orange. I'm a true Vol fan, but I respect the tradition of Kentucky basketball. It really doesn't matter about pre-season predictions, the games will be played and we'll see how it all turns out. I don't think their new coach would look nearly as good if his team had played in a competitive conference. He is an outstanding recruiter, but I like our chances of being competitive with him.

This is a decent post.

Just moved to the area. I'm about 2 miles from downtown. And I thought growing up in Big Ten country was rough...
Any of you guys going to the UT/UK football game this year? I'll be there. I have lots of family from TN, but married a girl from Kentucky and her whole family is Kentucky fans. Needless to say, football and basketball season is always fun around here, haha.

I'll definitely be there. We'll be having a large family reunion in Lexington that weekend (everyone wanted to come watch the game). Should be fun.

Kentucky will be talented, for sure, and win a lot of games. However, I'm still not sold on Cal dominating the way Kentucky will expect him to dominate (Which, at this point, is basically anything under being undefeated. Not really, but it's close.).

Cal has been in two mid-major conferences and his MO has been to run through the leagues and get a high seed, guaranteeing some favorable matchups in the NCAAs. However, I have noticed that he struggled when the CUSA was in its heyday. I also noticed he had two SEC matchups the season they went to the Championship. They lost to UT and beat MSU by 2 in the tournament.

So, I think he won't run roughshod through the league and, at a school who once had some questioning Tubby when he was 23-2 (or something similar), the crazies will put his sanity to the test. Again, he'll still win a ton of games and, as the best salesman in the college game with the best bagman on top of that, get a bunch of players. But, I'm just not seeing a Pitino in the 90s type deal here. He won't have games against UTEP, Marshall, SMU, Rice, etc. for three months to guarantee a #1 practically every year and he has shown his weakness as an in-game tactition.

Here are some facts you missed on.

While Tigers were 1-1 against SEC in 2007-2008, they dominated the top teams from BASKETBALL conferences. They beat Uconn, Oklahoma (with Blake Griffin), top 20 Gonzaga, top 20 USC. They drilled #3 Georgetown and #15 ARizona, as well. In NCAA they annihilated Michigan State, Texas (in front of 30,000 at Reliant), and UCLA. SEC fans opinion of the quality of basketball in their conference is usually overinflated.

Tigers beat MSU by 3 not 2. Their 2 losses that year were to #2 UT and #4 KU.

People discount the better teams in CUSA because of Tigers dominance last 4 years. Truth is, UAB, UTEP, and Houston, have played them closer than any of the "big boys". Also, in 2007-2008, lowly Tulane had a winning record against their SEC foes, including over league champion Georgia. Guess facts aren't your strong point.

If you honestly think being sure of 28-30 wins because of your conference doesn't put you in favorable position in the NCAA, you are sadly wrong. Any team can get up and beat a quality team when they only play against 2-5 per season, as your facts indicate.

What a shock, an obnoxious Kentucky fan. And, you didn't refute any of my facts, genius. You just made a different argument. And a poor one in that last paragraph.

Seriously, are you trying to not be taken seriously? You must be, because no one in their right mind would argue that CUSA is in any way a decent conference. Only a fool would try and say winning in Huntington, WV, Kinston, NC and El Paso is the same as going to Gainesville, Knoxville or Memorial. You can cherry pick a result or two here and there, but there's not going to be 19 free wins in conference play for Cal anymore.

And, yes, the record against the SEC is most relevant because, I'm not sure if you realize this, Kentucky plays in this conference. I do sincerely apologize, though, for shorting Cal a whole point against MSU.

Not trying to be an obnoxious UK fan, but...............

based on his screen name, join date and the contents of his remarks - I think he's a Memphis fan.

Do you really think any Memphis fan would be supportive of Cal?

Honestly, no. But it would be extremely odd to register with a messageboard in July 2008 and use the screen name CALISKING if you were a UK fan. Also his high-lighted statements from Unimane were in reference to CUSA (Memphis) issues. Not trying to argue here - just sayin'....
