In what way? I hear people say it is overrated. Do they just vaguely mean they didn't enjoy it? What is mediocre about this production? It was a unique project in a lot of ways.

Minus Ledger as the Joker, I was disappointed with the writing, dialogue, acting, visuals, and overall production. If you strip away all the flare, it's a solid script (though still not exceptional), but it just did not come together well IMO.

It seems to me that people are too generous with their critiques of the movie because of Ledger's phenomenal performance. If he hadn't been cast for the part, I would bet the movie wouldn't be nearly as successful or popular.

Dark Knight was on HBO this morning. I tried watching it again. It was so boring I turned it off again. The only one of the new Batman movies I liked was the one with the Joker.

Weird. I don't think TDKR is as good as TDK, but I though Bane was cool and that it was a good movie. I think a lot of people were frustrated that they couldn't understand Bane, but now that I know what he's saying I find him to be a pretty interesting character.

I didn't mind bane but I think it was just lazy writing a lot of the movie.

It was so preposterous even for a comic book.

The IMDb list leans Nolan in much the same way.

But that's based of thousands of user reviews, not simply paying money to watch the film

I never had a problem with Nolan. I thought batman begins and DKR were still solid movies. But obviously Heath ledgers joker is the reason it's so highly rated, and I don't have a problem with that because I enjoyed it very much

I must be a Batman homer because I loved all three.

For those who didn't like it, what comparable movies would you rate higher?

It's probably just me. I'm not a big superhero movie guy though I did like Man of Steel.

I didn't care for the Avengers either.

I'd wager most of those reviewers are men based on the list. Ftr, I like the Nolan Batman.

The avatar is so overrated. But in box office all you need is that James Cameron label to the side
I have only seen it once. A couple of years back when DirecTV had a free (HBO) weekend.

I thought it was a really entertaining film but don't see the insane love that it got at the time.

I kept thinking this is a Dances with Wolves rip off with Aliens! :ermm:

Avatar in 3D was awesome. The story by itself is not too good.

Yeah it was mainly for the effects and technology, the script and plot was not engaging at all for me. It felt as if they were taking me to some sci fi fantasy land and trying to impress me for 2 hours until the end where there is some action. I'm so unimpressed with effects nowadays not because the CGI isn't impressive, but because it's so normal.
But a good screenplay and acting and directing can really make a movie nowadays.

Dark Knight is a good movie but doesn't belong in the Pantheon of top ten movies. 10 years from now it will not be remembered anywhere as top ten.

True. Top ten is such a prestigious lists. We're still in that recent release bias
