IMHO about the cfb playoffs

You do realize that some teams get better as the year goes. Teams get better or worse they rarely stay the same. There are lots of variables, just because a team starts the season bad doesn’t mean they won’t be better later in the season. Teams have bad games and off nights. But Tennessee bounced back like the good teams do. And South Carolina has improved in the last month. The game isn’t perfect science that is what makes it fun. Look at 4-7 aggies beating LSU.Nobody can let their guard down in the SEC it’s a tough league. We are 10-2, we beat Bama,Florida and LSU in the same year. More good times coming in the future. Tennessee is going to be in the hunt from now on for awhile! GBO
I totally agree even better years are coming. I think there's work to do with our D but I'm loving watching this team work.

Taking our lumps for the South Carolina loss is a lesson in exactly what you're preaching: no game is easy in the SEC.

TN is going to be one of the teams with a target on our back in the SEC and that's a good thing but it's going to reinforce the need to get up for every game.

But yeah, I'm all smiles because it's year two for Heupel and we're way ahead of expectations, we're the most exciting offense in college football, and we're coaching players up. Recruiting will improve and Tennessee becomes a destination.

It's always been great to be a Vol but now it's fun too.

USC - get real. It’s USC.
TCU is an exception… so far the team has played well.

So USC and TCU have neither ever been to the playoffs and both have a chance? Seems we get a new team every year.

Tell me again, why do we have to expand?

because I am tired of Ga and Bama getting most of the 5 stars.

Somehow you think our miracle win this year means we are on equal footing with them?

You realize Georgia was doing that before they ever made the playoffs right?

Yes, do you not see how an expanded playoff will give 5 star recruits more options instead of the traditional teams?

The traditional teams were getting 5* players before the playoff. A non traditional power (Texas A&M) just signed the best class in history without ever making a playoff.

It seems we don’t need to expand the playoffs to give recruits options

And it made Satan mad. How many times in the past 10 years has that scenario panned out? Not often enough!!

More playoff teams will expand the options kids have.

The playoffs aren’t what made Saban/Alabama. You realize that right?

This idea that expanding the playoffs will somehow balance power is absurd. The only thing it will do is dilute the product.

Don’t think that any one coach has the secret sauce. There are several….
Actually, there's not several. There are only a few and they coach at elite programs because they've built those programs like Heupel is hopefully doing at UT. It's work.

With your theory, why hasn't basketball achieved more parity? There's a huge tournament and LOTS of teams get in it, but mostly the same teams dominate and that's where the 5* guys go.

According to you, they should be going everywhere. They just don't.

They lost to Arkansas, KY, Missouri and FL.

They'll only barely be ranked because they beat the hell out of TN and barely edged Clemson by 1 point, but we destroyed KY and Missouri.

Yeah, they're that awful.

Edit: your prediction of the score was:
TN 48
SCjr 24

You had us as 24 point favorites before the game but now you want to minimize the 25 point loss. Why,?
Why? Because they’re 8-4 and beat two top ten teams. They will also be a top 25 team as we both state. How many teams can say the same? That isn’t awful.

The loss by TN to South Carolina was awful.

The REASON they'll be ranked is because both TN and Clemson didn't take care of routine business, not because South Carolina had some kind of magical improvement.

We were favored by 21, Clemson by 14....... because South Carolina shouldn't be close to either of us.

They annihilated TN. Embarrassed us, NOT because they're good but because we played horribly. They squeaked by Clemson at home because Dabo is too proud to bench DJ, his very marginal QB, who had an awful game, NOT because South Carolina is good.

Saying, "well they're ranked now" so they're not awful because two ranked teams choked against them will never fly. South Carolina isn't good. They deserve to be 6-6.

Since 2015, men’s basketball has had only 1 repeat champion (Villanova). Of the 28 spots (final fours - no tourney in 2020), 20 are filled with different teams… only 8 repeats. Yeah I’ll take that as a sign of parity.

Look at where the talent is. The 5* talent is at about 5 schools in basketball. Don't be silly.

If TCU should happen to win it all, do you REALLY think 5* athletes are going to say, "I should go there!" vs Bama, GA, Ohio State, and whatever aTm can buy?

I would have traded the playoff for a Hooker Heisman and NY6. Doesn't matter. Can't control any of it. I'll just sit and watch.

Yeah if a 5 star guy is from Dallas, Houston, or Austin. Why not?

Football. Since 2015…. 32 teams with only 12 new, all others are repeaters. Bama with 3 titles and 3 runner ups. Clemson with 2 titles and 2 runner ups.

Why do you think doing the same thing year after year adds to the sport? There is a bias aspect to football as well just because they can’t play unlimited games.

If there was better coaching, more teams would work their way up in the rankings.

Let me tell you about a team called the Tennessee Volunteers. They aren't loaded with 5* talent and they were one disastrous game from going to the playoffs. What they have is a great coach, players who bought into what that coach is doing, and helluva lot of heart.

It's called good coaching. Bama was trash for several years until..... good coaching. Clemson was nothing until..... good coaching.

Keep your eyes on that Tennessee team, I'm predicting a bright future.

I don't think the defense tonight allows SCarolina to score near as many as last week. Maybe 24.

Our coaching staff wet the bed when they suspended Jeremy Banks for the game. They will forever live with that.
