This search was a disaster? All you know is what you were fed by people who either a) get paid based on ratings or b)whispered something to you in an internet chatroom or c)a combination of the two.

I'll tell you. Restoring UT to prominence is a daunting task. Some wanted no part of it. (gruden strong gundy)
Butch has the kahonas to take it on ; and we should have the same to back him. Anything less is asinine and stinks of a depression that I wont participate in.

One thing I like is that coach Jones says we are going to ___________. Dooley always said we were going to try________.

I was sad and frustrated, I was expecting a rock star coach, I was expecting to dislike Butch Jones and, and, ... I can't do it, I am starting to like him, and, damn it, I will support him until he gives me a reason not to. GO VOLS!

I was just as peeved off as a lot of other fans when I woke up at 4:30 this morning and found this out. Spent the entire day @ work grumbling to myself about this hire. Watched the PC and gotta say I'm in! The one thing that stood out to me during the PC was the use of the word "we". Everytime he talked about UT, he said "we". Obviously I haven't seen too many HC announcement PC's but I don't remember hearing this. Usually when I've heard a coach say "we" he was talking about his staff. (We will make UT , blah blah blah) I know it's a fickle thing but for some reason it stuck with me. He really does believe in that family idea and it didn't take him long to join our family! GBO!

Unlike Dooley I think Butch actually has a plan and knows his X's and O's. He seems willing to bring in a couple of UT guys (Tee and JG) to help with the recruiting and history of the program. He seems to know he has to fit the O and D to fit the players he has, unlike Dooley.

I don't think he will ever call a fake punt on 4th and forever deep in his own territory and I'm certain he would never run out the clock with 2 time outs on his own 40 with nearly a minute on the clock with the score tied.

This guy is a football coach and not riding his daddy's coat tails.

Im in, renewing my donation monday!!!!!! I think we have a passionate coach, one who wants to be here and I'm 100% behind him. Not my choice but by god, I think the man is all orange... VFL

The saddest part of this hire for me is that ARKANSAS has managed to hire considerably bigger names for their last two coaches than UT. Why? Arkansas gets Petrino / Tennessee gets Dooley...Arkansas gets Bielema / Tennessee gets Jones. Either Tennessee, for some reason, is less attractive to potential coaches than Arkansas, who faces LSU and Alabama...OR, the hiring efforts of UT have been deficient. For clarity, I'm not suggesting Bielema is a home run hire, but he is undeniably more highly regarded than Jones. From my perspective, it appears as though Arkansas' AD has simply been more determined. Why?

I must admit that I was not impressed with the hire, but I have more of a wait and see attitude after watching the PC with CBJ. He deserves Vol fans support. I do hope that he understands the gigantic step up in class the he has in the SEC and in re-building UT back into a football power. Best of luck to CBJ as he enters the Big Boy Football League!
