Improved Defense?

Banks isn't a bad DC, but he's not a great DC either. A "not bad" DC does not win championships. I'd like to pick up maybe Zach Arnett, who I think really did well as a DC at Mississippi State with not really a lot of talent. Certainly need a new DB coach, but I think the writing was on the wall with that one after they didn't extend him before the season.
Maybe one of the new coaches at some of these coaching jobs are open they will want him for head coach or DC and take Willie with him

Also one last parting gift. GA was scheduled to play Oklahoma this year. It would have brought their schedule into the 80s. Guess who canceled that game?
Greg Sankey cancelled it cause the 2nd Non con game in the contract couldn’t be played with OU being a SEC next yr.

Some have stated that Martinez was the only assistant to not get an extension after last season, although he did get a bit of a raise. This will be interesting to watch in the off season. Heupel should make it clear to Banks what he expects to see on defense next year, he’s the HFC. Like, covering the middle of the field? However, the lack of offensive production against our better opponents that whipped our butt didn’t help the defensive cause at all.

Ga tech kept it within 10. 8 points exactly. I believe we are a better team at home than Ga tech. Mizzouri only lost by 9. Maybe they were not taking the yellow jackets seriously but we lost by alot more. 7 straight losses is a problem considering the fact Ga plays nobody
Sat 4 or 5 starters to rest them for next weekend.

As long as we are improving he should be safe. His hands are somewhat tied by lack of talent in the secondary, but going into year 4 that will no longer be an excuse. It’s part of his job to evaluate prospects and recruit. Right now, however, I think you just have to look at what’s real and that is that we have improved.

Bring in Al Pogue to coach the CBs

Alabama easily wins the SEC. Michigan walks thru them in the Playoff game, everyone knows that Washington and Fsu could destroy them.
FSU ROFLMAO!!! They lost their Heisman candidate QB a week ago and barely squeaked by Florida (who was without their QB as well- the one we couldn’t stop).

FSU will be lucky to even make it out of the ACC Championship in one piece and will get torched in the playoffs without Travis.

I agree with everything you have said but why were they even considered

We didn't score a TD in the 2nd half against Bama, Mizzou, UGa. Actually, yesterday was the first 2nd half score in 2 weeks. Offense has to accept some of the blame
I agree that offense should have done more. In the case of Bama we were to conservative. Offense should have done more, but with Nico this year could have been different with a competent DC

Even with the rash of injuries on D we still only gave up 22.0 points per game. Banks is competent. He might not be in the top 10% of DCs but I’d put him in the top 25%. He’s done a solid job here. Martinez not so much, although I’ll give him some credit as the DBs were finally showing good improvement until Hadden went down.

So an 8-4 season guarantees our coach's another year. Do you think we should make any coaching changes or just wait until other teams in the east digress?

I go after anyone that stands in our way. Recently it's ga/Bama. When we become dominant against them I attack the next team up
I believe if we get in the top 12 next year we will have the best chance against the remaining conference's

Stats lie sometimes. Def wasn’t improved. Just didn’t play a Young, Daniels and Richardson this year.
