In Bruce He Endorsed For Gov

If I ever feel like taking a basketball coaches advice on who I should vote for, I will stop voting all together.

No offense to Pearl, he is a great coach, but he should stick to basketball. I'll make my own darn decision on who to vote for.

As an employee at a state university, we've been repeatedly told in the last six years that the Little Hatch Act forbids us from openly supporting ANY candidate--no campaign buttons while teaching, no bumper stickers on office doors, no endorsing candidates in any form while on campus. So TBR and university administration was incorrect in telling us that? Was it directed just at professors?

If you read the Attorney General's opinion that you posted, he explicitly states that he believes professors can have campaign materials displayed in their offices under the Act.

I know they go to church together and I think they are in a Bible study together. But Pearl is getting ready for his run for governor in 12 years after he has won his national championships. First Messianic Jewish governor of Tennessee.

He put in trust with Bill Haslam. Clay made a big deal out of this as coaches should stay out of endorsing politicians running for office

So....what the hell does the title say? In Bruce? Would "Bruce endorses Haslam" have been so much trouble?

do you vote on issues, or just vote against the "dbag"

I know Wamp personally. Cleaned his Golf Clubs in HS. Good man. No shame in my game. That's why I say Wamp over Haslam. And because of a recent incident involving a certain medical maijuana advocate and Haslaam. Left a bad taste in my mouth, regarding him, in general.

You have defeated the element of surprise. You must be one of those types that say "don't bother wasting your time wrapping my present."

Plenty of intelligent, well rounded people don't attend college. This country puts too much stock in a degree.

I agree, but most people without a degree aren't capable of being in a job as important as governor, imo.

It's against state law for a state employee to publicly endorse/campaign for a candidate. Also, since the families of most of his recruits are probably Democrats, it could be a bad move for recruiting. Other than sucking up to the UT cash cow, why did he do this?

Why do you think that most of his recruits are democrats?

Not pursuing a degree is a choice in this country, and not a good one. A bachelor's is what a high school diploma used to be. And I wouldn't vote for someone without a high school diploma.

A buddy of mine, who happen to meet with many members of the health and HR board of the TN st senate just last month, emailed Haslam about a concern recently. Only to be rudely shot down with a less than polite one sentence response. No thanks, sir. If you can't even take the time to respond to a citizen's concern, what makes me think you'll listen to the people of TN?

Don't quote me but something to the affect of. Marijuana is a dangerous drug and I am opposed to the legalization. Funny thing is, the email was a detailed description of a senate bill for the safe access to medical cannibas. It is a legite bill. He gave a one line response as if my buddy was a doobhead who's letter read; "Dear Mr haslam, I like smokin doobies so weed should be legal" Completely blew him off and cleary didn't read the full email, hence the knee-jerk, SAY NO.. response. D-bag in my book.
