'25 IN EDGE Damien Shanklin (LSU commit)

He was very open with us shortly after his visit what he was doing which allowed us to hammer home Dye (we wanted both but knowing he was off board made us have a singular focus).

His coach has a deep connection with a staffer at LSU so that was the key.

Hope he does well there and beats Bama/UGA/TX/ect.
I respect that. Allows us to move on right away.

If LSU struggles during the season, is this a kid we might try to get back in on? There are a few kids I hope we stay in touch with just in case the possibility of a flip arises. Shanklin is one of them. And I still really want Juan Gaston.

Doubt they struggle. Defense will be much improved with baker at dc. Offense will be in good hands with a semi experienced veteran qb. Schedule is very favorable.

They had one of the worst secondaries in the SEC last year that just doesn’t get better overnight even with the transfer portal

Their defense may still be bad, probably not as bad as last year though. They didnt hit the portal hard and it takes time to flush out the lack of talent they had in their secondary last year.

Right. Their D might not be quite as bad, though their current DBs are pretty young and/or recovering from injuries, and only one established DT, Guillory. Meanwhile, their O lost a lot of experience, and should be down a notch. I do hope they beat Bama and Fla, but other than that ... pfft.
