Tennessee is 6-0 with an average margin of victory of almost 29 points, that's insane. And these aren't all crap teams, that list includes Virginia, @LSU, Vanderbilt among others.

Just goes to show how good this team can be when Barton is playing well.

And this is why he is my least favorite player on the team. To damn inconsistent

While I don't always agree with Sparty I do in this case. I think CCM did a number on Barton's confidence and he is just now recovering from it. (I think it was Sparty that first brought that up).

CCM has done a number on everyone's confidence. Players, fans, and AD.

Stated differently, when Tennessee gets good point guard play they win. That's pretty much a truism for all basketball teams.

Now the bigger question is how to get Barton to play more consistently...

A lot of people have discussed how inconsistent Trae was along with his lack of mental toughness. It seems to be a staple of players under Martin.

"With an important win within its grasp, Trae Golden was perfect for Georgia Tech. Golden scored 16 points, including six clutch free throws in the final seconds, and the Yellow Jackets stunned struggling and seventh-ranked Syracuse 67-62 on Tuesday night. "I kind of went back to when I was a kid and just knocked them in," said Golden, who was 8 of 8 from the free throw line. "My dad used to make me nervous when I was younger. It made me think about that calm. It really helped me out."
Golden is the leading scorer for Tech at 12.7 and was just selected to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic team majoring in Science, Technology, and Culture.

You mean their 95th ranked SOS compared to our 19th ranked SOS?

Yea, that sounds logical.

Playing Duke twice, UNC, Cuse, Pitt, UVA is way harder than our schedule. Just goes to show you SOS is overrated at judging a teams schedule.

They are 5-12 in the ACC, we are 2-1 against ACC teams this year. I think our winning % is slightly better, and yes, their conference schedule is better, but that's only half their schedule. Their OOC SOS was 290, ours was 43, gotta look at the whole picture man.

Like I said, we have twice the record against a much harder schedule. Trae had his shot here and got us to the NIT twice, and is gonna amount to less at GT, looks like Barton may do better.

Not sure I agree with that. After the top 4, the ACC has very beatable teams. I don't believe Pitt has beaten a ranked team this year. Never know how it would have unfolded though.

We play their schedule we'd be fighting to get to the CBI too.

GT has had a tougher schedule than we have? Couldn't be by much, as I think we are up there in toughest schedule, somehow, even with a bad SEC.

This debate about Trae and Barton will go back and forth. I can understand why some would want trae here. I of course understand my side as well. I've also admitted to being too hard on Trae last year as all 3 of our pgs have now been benched at one time or two in the past 30 games. I've also given my thoughts about what we ask of Barton for most games when we don't give him picks, and instead have him hand the ball to the wing and run away from it.
With all that said, Barton hasn't quit one time that I recall, even when jerked out of the game. He's usually up in his man's face and pg's haven't been able to penetrate often without getting a pick, and his help D isn't even comparable to Trae's lack of.
There was no reason why he couldn't give us 10 and 4 this year, or close to it. Part of that's on him. A big part of it is also on CM. Barton's best games were his first as starter, just as DT's first game as starter was his best. What happened then? I don't know, but as long as we are in a good trot across halfcourt and looking to attack, Barton will play well, as well as the team. If we walk, we suck, and we lose.
Been saying that since last summer and it still hasn't changed.

he was money with his ft's down the stretch here. Can't recall if Barton has missed big ones late or not.
