Independence Bowl: NC State vs. Vanderbilt

We know how we responded with a week off and the entire season's goal on the line....it was no bueno.

I'm just looking forward to seeing the boys again. I have no misconception that we'll play good defense, at all. Just wanna see Dobbs, Kamara, Sutton and Barnett go out with a win, even if we give up 40 points, which we're very likely to do. Just win.

pretty much the same with me

All of you saying Vandy sucks do you realize they are 3-2 against us the last 5 meetings?

Do you realize they are 43-7 against UT in the last 50 years? Mason is 1-2 against Butch. That's the stat that matters. If Butch ever loses to him again, he should be fired before he leaves the field.

Vandy showed what they truly were today. A mediocre team that got hot against two atrocious defenses. One without their starting QB and another without a number of starters on D. Yes, Butch and his coaches should've had the reserves ready, but Shurmur lit up two bad defenses. NC State just proved that if UT had a smidgen of defense then they win that game.

On an unrelated note, these damn FarmersOnly.com commercials are really annoying. It seems like one of them airs during each break.

I'm sure it's getting a lot of traffic from State fans tonight. Brilliant move from their marketing department recognizing their audience.

my point exactly. They sing the praises of Jones and he isn't that good of a coach . We deserve better

You got a link to some of these "praises"? In the unlikely event that you're exaggerating and someone didn't believe you? :good!:

LOL completely disregard recent history and cite the past 50 years. Referencing the past if for teams that aren't good now. Butch is 2-2 against Vandy.

NC state missed a potential game winning FG vs Clemson and lost in OT and then lost to FSU by 4. Much better than their 6-6 record.

But yes, Vandy sucks and the fact they scored 45 against us shows how bad our defense is. But even KY and Mizzou put up points against us.

It'll be interesting to see how we respond with over a month off.

Ifs and buts...

Nc St wasn't very good. They re record indicated that.

No one's disregarding recent history especially Vandy fan boys and people like you. 3 out of 5 is an arbitrary point that Vandy fan boys pick out to support their "argument" because otherwise they haven't done jack **** in 70 years. It would be like UT bragging about beating Bama 7 straight while getting dominated lately or beating Fla once in the last 12 tries. It's comical.

Butch is 2-1 against Mason. He's 0-1 against Franklin. Franklin's not there anymore. And Mason has never been above .500 ever at Vandy. Not once. Excuse me if I'm not shaking in my boots that he's going to beat UT again. It'll take catastrophic injuries for it to happen again like it did this year.

If you lose to Vandy, you usually get fired. You're supposed to beat them because they traditionally suck. When Vandy beats UT, the coach pretty much gets a contract extension for life. That speaks volumes about both programs.

NC State now holds the Champions of Life belt.

No, no McCat. That belt belongs only to those who lose games they shouldn't and then are disingenuous about the state of their program.....the belt still resides in Knoxville.

If that's the criteria, the belt would be permanently on display in Athens, GA.

I guess with over 29K post I shouldn't ask if it gets old posting the same thing over and over? We get it man.
