I think that Reggie Wayne is helping a lot as well. Now their opponents have to worry about him as well as Harrison at WR. He may have always been like this, but I have just started to see him play well. What was it, two back-to-back touchdowns to help with the W?
Allowing my sky-high view of Peyton to come down after watching that 4th quarter yesterday afternoon, Manning looks as clutch as ever, especially with Vinatieri as money in the bank for 3-pointers.
The question will be, once again, can Manning's passing game lead them through the playoffs. Conventional football wisdom says no, but if he can maintain that level of play (and there's no reason he can't -- he single-handedly beat the best defense in the NFL), like I said, he may just be able to take the Colts to the promised land by himself.
I know it seems like a pipe dream... But I have to say, no defense can stop him. He can only stop himself.
The Colts dodged both the Chargers and the Steelers on the schedule this year. Dallas might be able to give them some trouble when they play in November 19th. No idea why that isn't Dallas' Thanksgiving Day game. Instead, Dallas will play Tampa Bay while Detroit plays Miami. At least the NFL Network will have another game that night, but I digress.I think the true test will be this weekend against the Patriots. The Chargers will also be a tough game. I'm assuming the Colts and Chargers meet up this season. Even the Steelers might be a problem.
Only a 3-4 defense could beat Peyton depending on the physical ability of that 4th LB, but if I were a defensive coordinator......I'd run a 3-3 defense at him with 5 defensive backs. 4 for the receivers and 1 to blitz from diverse angles/areas and sack his butt all day. The way Indy wins is the negotiate the safetys....They run 2 recievers in the area of a safety then both run away from that area causing the safety to choose 1, the other is single coverage. Insert Harrison #88 here.
