Inflation in your World

I can get it rebuilt, and probably will but when you're offshore there's peace of mind in knowing that your engine will do what is necessary to get you back to the dock.
Oh no doubt. That would be another reason for me to hang an old 2.5L carb Merc on the transom if I were in your situation and single engine.

Living the lake life it’s just a mild inconvenience for me. My bass boat will never even likely see coastal bay waters.

I know you have Seatow or BoatUS?

Seatow.

I've watched too many people get drug down the sound. Mostly Bayliners and those ridiculous Hurricane deck boats that all the retirees love to putt around in.

The spot lock/gps features are absolute game changers when fishing in 100 feet of water. Currently you have to figure out what the tide is doing, what the wind is doing and then drop the hook. Then HOPE that you did the math right and that you're over the 20 sq ft area where the fish finder marked structure and fish. With these new gps trolling motors you just hit a button and fish.
They’re game changers in fresh water too. You hook a big toad and just pop either your spot lock or shallow water anchors with your foot and you’ve got all the time in the world to fight them.

I know what you’re saying it saves you a huge PITA on positioning but hell they are awesome in shallow fresh water too

I had someone tell me that the manufacturers don't design or manufacture parts for saltwater engines, they tool and manufacture all the parts for freshwater since it's much less expensive and the market share is about 95% freshwater.. That shocked me, but I suppose there are a lot of lakes in the world.

Ones that had Yamaha corrosion issues would probally agree.

Eh maybe. If you’ve seen these new huge ass multi speed V12’s coming out of Mercury Racing now I doubt any of them will ever see fresh water.

I’d guess the market is bigger for fresh water for sure but I’d be shocked to see the split that big. 🤷‍♂️ No idea though

I love the Haulover Inlet YT channel.

People try to full send through there and get their asses handed to them.

Having been fully boat dry north of 60 mph I just don’t understand why people think that’s… fun. It’s scary as hell when you hear that motor rev.

The Miami Boat ramp channel is fun too. People do the dumbest sh*t at boat ramps.

I could easily spend a day with a lawn chair and a cooler of beer at my local public ramps watching wives get yelled at and the other assorted shenanigans.

My good friend runs a construction company that installs soffits for all the big boys, Pulte, Beazer, Lennar, Taylor Morrison & DR Horton and he absolutely goes through a s-ton of aluminum. He's echoing exactly what you're saying, he says that he keeps calling his PO guys at the builders and tells them his pricing is going up 30% and they're like - "whatever you say." They get it, supply is low and prices keep skyrocketing.

Interestingly enough, these builders used to pre-sell all of these homes, now they aren't selling them until they're complete. No more selling it for x only to find out that the real cost to build was x+40%. But here's the thing, they still can't build them fast enough.
It makes you wonder how much the bubble can grow before it bursts. I was expecting it to happen this past wiring but here we are still rolling.

We supply manufacturing, construction and transportation with materials and tools and are having similar experiences.

As I’m sure you know, those escalating costs are causing problems with Builders Risk insurance. Inflation is too fast for an annual inflation guard percentage to work and if a change order isn’t given you can’t use that endorsement to combat the rising costs either. Rising costs and labor shortage pushed a lot of trucking companies out, we will see if something similar ends up happening in commercial/industrial construction due to rising costs, labor shortage and material shortages. It won’t surprise me.

Interesting. I have an upper MM commercial GC that is seeing a ton of it. They’re buying materials any chance they get and storing it way ahead of time to combat the increasing costs.

Gasoline marine generators are a huge problem. There is literally one marine Gasoline generator manufacturer in the world. I ordered generators in Dec 2020. Received them last week.

Inflation rates we see today from the Feds are not accurate, at least yet. Had 3 price increases on one product this year, surcharges and multiple increases on others.

Plants cannot even get N2 because of the lack of cryogenic certified drivers.

Quoting blowers at 20 week leadtimes.
Sorry but when your wastewater treatment plant cannot aerate, your town's sewer system is going to back up and be unusable. Fits with this Biden admin

I say there's no problems, not with availability of BR's. I'm writing new ones on barrier islands on the gulf. If you can get them here, I'd wager you could get them anywhere. The costs are still 15-20% higher than they were last year, give or take. Down here there is no excess material to be had or I'm sure my GC's would be attempting that as well. It's a knife fight in a phone booth to get what they can get to begin with.
