Id say its one of the better movies to come out this summer. Brad Pitt was fantastic and the German Colonel (i forget his name but it might be the Jewhunter) should win an award for his performance
Yes the Colonel was amazing....This movie is just a masterpiece....The subtitles were almost too much but I got over it.

Truly an amazing movie.

Saw IB tonight...classic QT...good flick. It's no Pulp Fiction or Res Dogs...but definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

I agree. I do think some of the dialogue was a little indulgent, and I never got that feeling from Pulp or Res Dogs. Great film nonetheless.

Something about this movie just made be feel a bit strange. When it's all said and done, it seems like a 20 minute story stretched to 2+ hours. And the Basterds weren't even the main reason for the story, it seemed. Then again, if I think about it some more, it's a bit deeper than I originally thought as I left the theater.

So, I can't say that I really liked it yet, but appreciate it's a good movie. The more I think about it, the more it's a bit better. But, I realized I like modern day Tarrantino conversations and tirades more than I do old WWII banter.

Acting was great in most instances and the movie is interesting. Not my favorite from Quentin, but not a waste of money.

Great flick; the dialog was signature Tarantino. It was stretched out a little too long, IMO. But I enjoyed it.

You never get comfortable with this film. I was on edge the entire time. QT is a master of building up a scene.

My son said he didn't do something for his Mom and I asked him what was going to happen to him.

The response?

"Probably get chewed out.... I've been chewed out before!"

I've watched it twice now, and I noticed something in the tavern scene... shouldn't the German Major (Hellstrom) have recognized Hugo Stiglitz?

I thought that was the reason he imposed himself upon them until he started in about how you sign three in German. (a point I will remember the next time I am in occupied France)

Been at the beach for a long time, and have had no chance to see it, now that fall is here I don't know that I will have an opportunity until it comes out on BluRay. Damnit.

I've only seen it once, but the way I remember it, he joins them partly because of the actress, and probably because they are playing themselves as officers of some sort. I don't think he motioned for 3 more drinks inappropriately until after he had been there awhile.

The reason Hellstrom came to their table was because, like the drunk German officer Wilhelm who just became a father, he thought the accent of Lt. Hicox was odd. Hellstrom came from some room off to the side and started in about having a great ear for accents, which led to the story by Hicox about where he's from.

Hellstrom even tapped Stiglitz on the shoulder to scoot down a seat so he could sit near the head of the table. Just seemed to me that a high-ranking guy like Hellstrom would've immediately recognized Stiglitz, the guy who killed however many high-ranking Germans before joining the Basterds.

Saw it tonight and loved it. The only things I've ever seen by QT were the Kill Bills so I'm fixing to watch Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs next. The Jewhunter stole the show. He was great.

if he had never actually seen the guy though, then he probably wouldnt know what he actually looked like. Didn't they seem to say that the germans more tried to sweep him under the rug / deport him or something rather than make stiglitz an example for everyone to see and know about?

nothing, really... it's more of a spy movie than a war movie.... the diaoluge is masterful and extremely intense.

This movie had very little action, but still kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
