Bought this yesterday and I have to say I was not aware of all of the subtitles involved, but it was a really good movie. Christoph Waltz stole the show. This guy made the movie.
Saw it tonight and loved it. The only things I've ever seen by QT were the Kill Bills so I'm fixing to watch Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs next. The Jewhunter stole the show. He was great.
Did you ever watch these movies? Pulp Fiction is a classic. Like others have said, Jackie Brown is also pretty good.
Take a look at From Dusk til Dawn, Death Proof, and Sin City (which he was special guest director).
IB was a good movie. Story was well developed and the first scene puts you at the edge of your seat for things to come in this movie. I really enjoyed it and I particularly liked the dialogue in the tavern scene and the beginning of the movie.
It's really hard to revise history about such well-known events and make it work. I watched the final scenes knowing the Nazi high command didn't die en mass in a theater fire machine gun frenzy leg explosion, and that's hard to overcome.
I'm not sorry I watched it. I wouldn't tell anybody to rush out and rent it, either.
Entertaining but not great. What's a QT movie without a scene where everyone is pointing a gun at each other or where people kill each other nearly simultaneously or with numerous references to E. Tennessee? All the familiar QT elements were here.
The elements of spaghetti western were good but never fleshed out. Seemed like the theme wandered a bit.
Landa was a good character but hard to see how that stood out as Oscar worthy.
