Inky was the one that came up with VFL

Fantastic! The one bright spot from the Dooley era has been stripped from Son of Barbara. We can now remember him for all the things we should remember him for: losing, bamboo, losing, failing, looking for Rommel, shower-gate, and losing.

Don't forget about the stool will always remember that

Move on, Ainge.

Who honestly cares about who came up with the name?

Here is what I know:

I used to routinely have to defend my university when our players would routinely show up under arrest during the Fulmer and Kiffin eras.

Dooley stopped that bleeding. He didn't stop anything else, but at least he changed that.

Arguing about naming rights about VFL is trite.

I'm not sure one person could trademark something so common as VFL. It's 3 letters. I think the more intriguing issue is the handling of Inky by Dooley and the creation of the position that was most likely Inky's idea in the first place.

Were you not following the program when Dooley was here? He wouldn't let ex players on campus or to visit practice and such without written approval.. He didn't embrace the former player like CBJ has..

All he had to do was call

but seriously, of course I remember that being part of the culture, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a specific incident in which Dooley told Inky to scram, cause that really woulda rustled my jimmies

If Butch heard "VFL" from Inky and decided to make it the name of our development program, we would all celebrate him for taking a great name and turning it into something bigger. Since Dooley is gone, he "ripped it off."

I don't like Dooley either, but lets be a little more balanced with our criticism.

My one wish for christmas. is that no one ever brings up dooley again on this website...

Ainge didn't bring it up. He just set the recording straight when a caller credited Dooley for it. You probably just don't like Eric and jumped at the chance to call him out. I guess now you are routinely defending Dooley now instead of CFP and CLK.

I'll call your TRITE and raise you a PETTY.

On the other hand, I sure do appreciate Al Gore inventing the Internet, so we can argue more efficiently.

Dooley was repsonsible for creating the VFL program. The phrase was not created by Inky or Dooley. I credit the NWO. :)

The difference is Butch would give full credit to Inky and ask him to lead the VFL Program.

Also heard the story about when Dooley refused to let Peyton & some of his Colt buddies into the PEYTON MANNING Locker Room!! Not sure if the tale was true, but it sounds like something Dooley would do!

None other than everyone's favorite former VFL Clay Travis used the term on this very website in 2009. Shocked he didn't try to trademark it. Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me that Dooley picked it up from Inky.

Showergate!?? LOL ... Just so's you guys know, my daughter had a class with some of Dooley's squad, and until he did that personal hygene thing, more than one showed up smelling "like last weeks dead rat by a dumpster". She thought showergate was a good thing. Back in the day (Vietnam and the draft) every basic training platoon had 1 or so guys like that and they'd get a 'Midnight Shower' by the rest of the platoon, often at the Drill Seargent's recommendation, but always with his approval. Best example I've seen of it is in the Movie Monte Walsh, a western, where the whole bunkhouse takes the cook to the water tank for a bath.

Wouldn't be surprised if some of you doooods laughing at teaching personal hygene to some of these recruits from sketchy backgrounds smell like that dead rat she was talkin' about. Sheeeweee!

An you wonder why you can't get a date, or get the one you do to go out with you more than one or twice. Dooley did 'em a favor.

I wish we'd stop treating this like the discovery of Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Whoever came up with it, sticking the letters VFL together isn't exactly brilliant, rocket science.

Conclusions: You love jumping to them.

Jimmies: Were rustled by my oh so offensive post of not equating Dooley to Pol Pot.

Yep and he has a better record at tennessee then Butch does so far and has beat Butch in their match up.

Butch isn't just a better coach than Dooley, he's a better human being. Ask DeAnthony Arnett or ANY of our former lettermen about that.
