Interesting note from Pearl

I don't get into the coaching debate much but he has led us to some good wins. I'm just not sure this makes sense.

In football if UK is in the top-10 for 2011 does Dooley point out that we beat them in 2010?

Its a nice little accomplishment and piece of trivia that is going to be way overblown. I don't really get it either. Nice feat, but so what.

I think it is relevant because all those teams were just as good and if not better last year than this year.

Considering out Basketball used to be like Kentucky football I think we should be happy with that stat. But it still has nothing to do with this season. We did beat two top 10 teams but on the same note lost to some nobodies..

That's the point of the whole tidbit. Bruce was talking about our program and how we've beat some of the best. I agree with you, but some just don't get it.

Which ones? The three we beat last year are either just as good as or much better this year considering they are collectively undefeated.

I would prefer to see a stat that says our record is X-X vs top-10 teams since the Kansas game or in the past 2 years. Even though there would be losses it would be a more telling stat IMO

Agreed. However, I still think it is relevant due to the fact of the success of said teams both last year and this year. It's not like Kansas wasn't good last year and became good this year, same said for OSU and SDSU. However, I definitely understand your point.

When we get hit with Pearl having a one season suspension, no other team will want him. When we lose a scholarship for 2012 & one scholarship for 2013, no other good coach will want to come to U.T. When we lose post-season play for 2012 & 2013, no
other good coach will want to come to U.T.
Who would be best to get us through these issues? Pearl, of course!! Why should we start over, when we can get Jones to coach during the 2012 season, while Pearl is suspended. If Jones does well, then maybe he will get head coaching offers and be gone when Pearl returns.
U.T. wins with less disruptions in the program by not losing coaching philosophy for a year. Pearl has a job, so he wins! Jones gets a chance to show what he can or can not do, so Jones wins.

Typical Pearl half-truth. Doesn't bother to point out that his Vols are WINLESS against the other 5 teams in the top 10!

Despite your anti-Pearl negativity, your information is MISTAKEN. The only other team in the Top 10 we've played under Bruce Pearl is Texas, and yes, we have a win against them!

TN basketball was irrelevant prior to Pearl and will be again after he leaves; if you don't like it, don't follow our BB program...:devilsmoke:

No, but I've been watching the past 25 years, and we haven't had much to be excited about except a couple of years under Green until Pearl...
Thats what I was thinking. I cant believe how much people on here want him gone. He pretty much gave life to a crap bball program

No, you're MISTAKEN!

Pearl is WINLESS against Texas since last year's Kansas game!

Even though the stat is kinda irrelevant, it's still pretty telling about the last two years in big-time games.

I'm sure glad that at least one vol fan realizes that. People on here act like we were Duke and just replaced Coach K with Bruce Pearl. They need to wake up. I also remember when some were wanting Bobby Knight and we all just love his track record.

Which track record?

The double-digit conference championships, handful of final fours, and 3 national titles? That track record?
