Interesting note from Pearl

When we get hit with Pearl having a one season suspension, no other team will want him. When we lose a scholarship for 2012 & one scholarship for 2013, no other good coach will want to come to U.T. When we lose post-season play for 2012 & 2013, no
other good coach will want to come to U.T.
Who would be best to get us through these issues? Pearl, of course!! Why should we start over, when we can get Jones to coach during the 2012 season, while Pearl is suspended. If Jones does well, then maybe he will get head coaching offers and be gone when Pearl returns.
U.T. wins with less disruptions in the program by not losing coaching philosophy for a year. Pearl has a job, so he wins! Jones gets a chance to show what he can or can not do, so Jones wins.

a joke. Pearl is right now paying a pretty heavy price for his mistake. I don't get why everybody wants to pile on the guy.

Or throwing chairs and hitting kids but I'm sure you would love for B Knight to touch you go ahead and jump on his Train Jay lol

Couldn't make any sense out of this unintelligible rubbish.

What I think you're saying is that you have a problem with throwing chairs, but are ok with a pattern of dishonesty. Correct?

Fo the record - the chair was being thrown because of TV Teddy. Knight just did what many other coaches have wanted to do with him on the floor.

And Tony Jones is not going to get a head coaching job out of this. He has been an asst. For almost 20 years and can barely mumble through an interview after the game. Some people act Like he has taken over he is just standing there during the game. Probably while Bruce is texting subs in to another coach lol.

Are you implying that Bruce isn't following the rules of the suspension correctly?

Agreed, Pearl is the only coach in the country who could do well here. With our godawful facilities and subpar fan support and whatnot.

I know that was your attempt to be cute but actually he IS the only coach to do anything noteworthy bball wise here. So why havent we been any good before his arrival?

Mostly poor coaches and an AD (Dickey) that hated basketball.

Pearl's done great things here. Acting like he's the only who can be successful at UT, though, is ridiculous. Especially now that we're back on the national radar again with improved facilities and a fanbase with renewed interest in basketball.

That's the funniest thing about it, people act like we were national championship contenders for years before his arrival. We weren't even SEC contenders. And how easy was it to get a ticket to a game in TBA before? Hell they would give you a ticket just for the fan support now you basically have to scalp them.

Actually, he is the only coach to do anything noteworthy bb wise here since Jerry Green won the SEC on his way to the Sweet 16 while babysitting O'Neil's team. That was the first time anyone had done anything noteworthy since Don Devoe won his SECs and also made the sweet 16, and Ray Mears won his SEC championships before that.

Knoxville has been a basketball ghost town during several notable periods during the past 20 years, but don't pretend there has never been a "noteworthy" team in orange; there has, several times.

Now that we are back, we were never there. Lol. And the fanbase does not have renewed interest, they are just finally interested.

And I forgot how many times we were ranked #1 before Pearl. Even if it was for only a week. And I'm sorry to say I was at that UT - Vandy game.

Unsurprisingly, you tout his most meaningless accomplishment.

Bruce has won the conference. He has had us in the tournament every year he has been here, and he appears to be sustaining the momentum he has built. He has taken us to the sweet 16 three times, winning one of those games, and had us seconds away from a final four. He has UT playing at a consistenly high level not seen since Mears, despite my earlier post.

So sing the praises of the accomplishments he has made that are actually important. Don't, however, be surprised when others point out the tremendous amount of embarrassment he and his teams have brought to the school or the possibility that things may get much worse with possible NCAA sanctions on the horizon. They are valid criticisms.

Well Cotton I'm on your side and agree with you while it really does not mean anything but for bragging rights, I was just stating something that no other Coach had accomplished. But I am just glad to have someone else agree about the bigger picture. I don't care if I do get criticized for being a Pearl supporter, he has still done a lot more good than bad for the university IMO. I hope he is here for along time to come. Let's hear it Haters!

I understand your outlook on it but just about every school has some good moments in their program. I should have said that pearl has made ut a contender on a consistant basis since being here....i mean several schools have made it to the sweet sixteen at least once or twice

There is also a big difference between whether UT could hire a competent replacement should Pearl be dismissed and whether they actually would.

With our luck UT probably would not, not that I think Pearl is going anywhere, but since we are now “back on the map” all the recruits want to play for UT now no matter who the coach is. Lol.
