Interesting Oklahoma Perspective

Thank you for mentioning that. We’ve even got a designated PAT injury player on scholarship. Formal theatrical training a prerequisite. Heard he’s Dundee’s nephew…
I would have gladly been the designated player for some scholarship money. With my size, however, I probably wouldn't have been faking it 🤕

Yea I lost a lot of respect for Venables after that nonsense. I'm sure i'm the minority on this, but it just doesn't sit well with me when a coach deliberately coaches a kid to lie to gain an advantage.....in any form, but especially to fake an injury.
We do it too. Jackson Lampley has gotten injured in nearly ever field attempt the past two seasons.

Herbstreit was absolutely on point with his criticism. There has to be a new rule created to force teams to stop flopping.

If a player delays the game after a supposed injury; they have to go through full evaluation and are ineligible to return to the field for at minimum 30 minutes.
I have always thought the injured player needs to be kept off the field for at least the rest of that drive. maybe the next one too. you know, actually make sure he is healthy.

second thing to do, would be to limit any substitutions during an injury to ONLY the injured player.

Just curious, where did you see that anyone was coached to do that?
Go watch the game. Herby pulls the pylon cam and points out Terry standing there long after the play and suddenly collapsing to the ground. Either he was coached or he went rogue multiple times.

Yep, I came close to changing their name to "The Fainting Goat Okies"

There has to be something done about these "injuries"

The solution is ridiculously simple - the 'injured' player has to sit out the entire possession. It satisfies the "safety" aspect because it protects the "injured" player, and a coach will think twice before losing players for an entire possession.

Sadly, it's so simple and logical that it will never happen.

It won’t be long before there are more commercials than football. Takes a lot of the fun away for the viewer.

Not if you watch games like I do. Record them on the DVR, then start the game about an hour and a half late and fast forward through commercials, halftime, and endless reviews, and finish the game pretty much when it ends. Watch at your own pace, stop and go back to see plays again, stop to hit the john or the fridge, etc. I've done it this way for 25 years, and I don't think I would even be able to get through a sporting event 'live' at this point.

That's the price of being on Network TV. Most people don't realize that if you watch a 1 hour show on Network TV you're going to watch over 100 commercial ads. Could it be why the streaming services are winning bids for games?

I think Oklahoma wins pretty soundly. Even though I don't think Hawkins was that great, they will be more confident offensively with him. Auburn's D isn't that great and I think Oklahoma has a good defense. I think Oklahoma shuts them down and scores ~20-30 points to win a 30-7 or something like that type of game.
There is no way in hades Oklahoma scores 30, I could see 20 though, I like OK to win 20-17.

Best time to have forced the NCAA to deal with this was after the 21 Ole Miss game. UT played Bama in a prime time game that it was clear we were going to lose. What should have happened is have a UT player lay on the ground “injured” after EVERY Bama offensive play. At some point the officials would have had to decide if they were going to penalize UT for “injured” players or let the game go on for 7+ hours.

Faking an injury is basically the same as taking a timeout. It’s only to regroup and rest the D. It allows teams to have unlimited timeouts

The player was a Tennessee transfer. Probably brought the flopping idea with him from other teams using it on us in the past. SMH. It's ok, their whole team flopped in the end.
