There need to be state laws to make prosecutors more carefully weigh murder charges against potential self defense claims. At a minimum, any murder charge for self defense that doesn’t result in a conviction should result in full award of attorney fees to the defendant. Even better, the Aquitted defendant should be able to counter sue for malicious prosecution
As it stands now, even if you win, you still have jail time, lost income, massive attorney fees and unquantifiable loss of reputation in the community
Something needs to be in place to prevent prosecutions unless the state has a very high confidence level in being able to convict
