Interesting Timeline from Tony Jones

Well, they weren't terribly wrong. The alleged bump resulted in Pearl's dismissal and saved serious sanctions against the program. I'd say the NCAA did us a favor by making a big deal about the bump.

They didn't do you any favors. If I was you, I'd admit I was horribly wrong and go back being the Pearlophile you were before you ate up the NCAAs misinformation regarding a "Secondary" "Major" "Bump" "Non-Violation."

Being a Pearlophile is more fun anyways, :)

No, they were completely wrong about the bump. They charged Pearl and UT with a major infraction and then pulled back and never offered an apology.

It just made it easier for UT and Cheek to dismiss Pearl at the time. It saved them some money.

And if you believe the NCAA, they said Kiffin, Pearl and Hamilton not being at UT had no basis on their ruling yesterday. Now do you believe that or were they lying too?

Not only that, they said if they would have had sufficient evidence (lol, they charged with a major without evidence) it would only be a secondary violation. I wish someone could make sense out of this for me.

I saw nothing in the NCAA finding that indicated that the coaching staff in football, basketball, and the AD had nothing to do with their ruling. In fact, they consistently referred to the former coach and coaching staff. The fact that Pearl was no longer coach was the saving grace for the basketball program and Kiffin not being there also helped with the football ruling. Absolutely, no question about that.

It's not really even the first lie....it is calling others and asking them to lie which to me is the part which deserves the show cause. That shows intent to cover up. As opposed to...hey I forgot that was at my house.

I really liked Pearl...but that one is hard to overcome.

Who did he call and ask to cover up anything?

I asked this a couple nights ago...

Why should we believe Bruce Pearl, Tony Jones, or anybody else on the coaching staff?

Then you weren't following Rucker yesterday as he was tweeting about the press conference. I cut and pasted his tweets as he listened to the NCAA's reasoning for their ruling. Some interesting info. If you believe the NCAA, Kiffin, Pearl or Hamilton not being at UT had no basis on their ruling. Now, do I believe that? Hell no, but it is funny to watch them trot out that crap and expect anyone to believe it. They wanted Pearl's head on a stake and got it.

According to the NCAA just an hour ago, Pearl, Hamilton and Kiffin no longer being at TN had nothing to do with this ruling. Or were they lying too?

Some interesting Rucker tweets:

wesrucker247 Wes Rucker

NCAA COI vice-chair: Pearl, Hamilton, Kiffin no longer being at Tennessee didn't matter in this ruling. BS. At least try to be honest.

You'll have to convince me the NCAA COI didn't just lie while punishing someone for lying.

NCAA: There wasn't sufficient evidence. Media: Then why did you charge them? NCAA: Because we can. Kiss our tailpipe.

If you charge someone with a major crime and you can't prove it, you should have to explain why the hell you charged them.

If you can't defend what you did, I'm going to call it what it is: indefensible. Explain the misunderstanding or publicly apologize.

At this point, I don't believe anyone. They are all going to say whatever they want to make them look good. It happens in just about every case.

I didn't follow Rucker, but I did read the NCAA report. If they actually said that the coaches no longer being there had no bearing on the ruling, it would be a blatant lie.

Just as Rucker suggested yesterday. They called Bruce a liar while telling a lie themselves. Idiots.

So if Bruce had lied and just kept lying instead of coming clean then what would have happend? Permanent ban? 6 years? no ban?

Maybe not a victim. But the NCAA is making an example out of him. Call it what you want to call it.

No question that they are making an example out of him. However, don't ever forget that he put himself in position to be made an example of. He is certainly not a victim. For Tony Jones to indicate that the 3 year show cause is unbelievable because of a hamburger completely ignores the real reason for the finding. I also found his comment that Pearl came to his assistants after his meeting with the NCAA, indicating that "you know guys, that picture may have been taken in my kitchen" absolutely laughable. Why not come clean now instead of continuing to try to defend unethical behavior.

"We came back to the office after the interview, and Coach said 'guys, you know what? I think that picture was at my house. I need to call the NCAA back and set the record straight,' '' Jones said. "He called Mike Hamilton, but Hamilton was out of the country on vacation.'' (End)

Uhhhhhh....I'm calling BS on this Tony.

"i think that picture was at my house?"

Did this happen before or after Pearl called Craft's father to help him "remember" what happened? Did this happen before or after the entire coaching staff got together to discuss their respective interviews with the Investigator which you were told not to do?

I hate that Pearl is gone, but they did this to themselves. To my understanding it was Forbes that lied first. Pearl and company should have thrown Forbes as far under the bus as he could go. That is exactly what Calhoun and UConn did and nothing happened to them.

Pearl was on the Doug Gottlieb show today, and his recollection of the way things happened completely contradicted what Tony Jones says happened. All of these guys lied, and are continuing to lie. We will be much better off without them.

Shocking, huh? These guys did a nice job for us, but they're just unethical people, plain and simple.
