He came to the conclusion that most of black society does not readily accept offspring of such relationships, and neither does white society, he said.

guess he missed the last election

“I’m not a racist. I just don’t believe in mixing the races that way,” Keith Bardwell told AP. “I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."

Hmmmm... glad to know that.

In what world is he living in where interracial kids aren't accepted? Maybe in Louisiana, but most of everyone outside of the deep south is living in the present

I voted in the referendum to change the South Carolina Constitution allowing interracial marriage within the last 12 years. It barely passed.

What does it matter if any offspring would not be in the running for Prom Queen or King at some podunk high school in the deep South? It makes no difference. Would he deny a license to a butt-ugly couple, because their offspring would not be accepted?

What? that IR kids are accepted or everyone is living in the present?

The former. america is not the melting pot you portray, even outside the South. Some of the Metropolitan areas MIGHT be, but by and large, we're not that cosmopolitan.

I see what you're saying, most of the older white men in America absolutely HATE to see a black man with a somewhat attractive white woman. But me and my wife have been to 5 different states in the past 2.5 years across America and I've never seen anyone our age (23) look at us with the hate that I see some older white men look at us. I think once that older population dies off then there will be a more general acceptance of interracial dating.

I agree for the most part, but I am 25 and I went to high school with at least a few people who thought interracial couples were a "sin against God" because of some passage in Exodus. There will always be some backwards fools to contend with.

Maybe. I just think people have an innate draw toward like kinds. It doesn't mean they're racist. It means they're doing what is natural. I don't think the older whites you're referencing have the problem you think they do. You're just seeing the response of someone seeing things to whic they're unaccustomed.

I don't say this as a black white thing. The Sunni and Shia have the same issues. Americans and Canadians.....we gravitate to those like us.

Yea and most of those people just go off of what "Grand Pa" told them. They don't really know why they hate it, they just know it's something their dad and grandad didn't like.

But it's easier to grow out of that hate then what they're grandparents actually grew up with and saw as kids in the early 1900's

Maybe you're right, but whatever it is that is more natural to people seems to be more of a problem in the south then any other part of the country. But it's still no excuse to stare at someone for 15 minutes because something isn't "natural" to you. That's actually rude.

Gay marriage isn't natural to me but I don't sit there and stare at the couple to see if I could possibly end that relationship with a sorry attempt at intimidation

No argument.

I'm just saying those comfortable with the different are likely to remain relatively stable as a % of the population. It will change some, but not drastically.

I just don't have enormous faith in people after having traveled a lot.

Those staring at the gay couple suck, but they arent going away. People will always suck too, no pun intended.
