Iowa Football Players Put Fans On Notice

If the sight of a player kneeling during the national anthem causes you not to watch a football game, I’d question how big a football fan you were to begin with.

I’m there to watch the game. Hell, most of the time I’m at the concession stand during the national anthem.
Must be picking up your popcorn and peanuts vendor tray. How did the hotdog sells do last season?

Truth is dozens of white kids aren’t getting killed each weekend like black kids are in Chicago and more across the country. That is a fact no one wants to address. Many of these young men leave children to grow up w/o a father, the #1 factor causing poverty.

On this Web page we talk about a former UF player who was shot & killed, 41 years old, from the same culture. That has to change. Call it racism if you want but I think it’s racist to deny that is a huge problem.
I agree. But change has to come from the inside. You can not go decade after decade doing the same thing within the communities and expect things to change. This country has spent trillions of dollars since 1964 to improve this but the result is always the same. I do think that there are those who want to keep blacks in a dependent state for profitability, especially the drug trade. They have even made large strides in the Caucasian population in the last 15 years.

I don't know if the cycle of poverty is more about fatherless households as it is about having a reasonable number of children and holding off from having ANY until the parent (or parents) are able to afford them. The welfare system perpetuates poverty. Especially when having more children is an incentive to get more government assistance.

Studies show the #1 cause for women to be in poverty is having children out of wedlock or no partner.

I think your last sentence is underrated.

Which leads to other issues for the vast majority of the kids. It would be short sighted to say all but it is hard to teach what isn't being practiced so it passes from one generation to the next. The word "baby daddy" used to be an insult now its just another acceptable phrase that doesn't phase people anymore.

The only black people that live in Iowa (and that is very few) play football at Iowa and Iowa State and then they get the hell outta there when they use up their eligibility.

🤔🤔🤔

You would be surprised that it is the opposite.

It's actually more than 2.5, if you actually use real data.

But the real data only shows that a black person is something like .0005% likely to be killed by a cop and a white person is around .0001%.

It’s actually way higher than that for both groups (which is awful). The rate for African American men is almost 0.1%. The rate for white men is about 0.04%. Neither of those numbers is acceptable to me.

TV contracts need fans in order for the contracts to be worth anything.
get rid of players and see if an inferior product will still have the same number of fans. If the school supports the players, and the players support each other, why are the fans griping?

Because some educated alumni dont necessarily enjoy seeing their institute of education turned into an asylum for morons.

"educated" is subjective. If the "educated" alumni have an issue with every student on the university campus being treated the same, then the problem is with the Alumni and not the University or the students, or morons as you refer to them.

I'm not going to continue giving money to my alma mater if they condone and perpetuate this idiocy.

TV contracts need eyeballs in front of TV sets to be worth anything.

Live fan attendance is secondary.
The live fan attendance for the SEC schools (with the exception of Vandy) still accounts for $30 to 100 Million dollars per school. That loss may not impact football but it's important to track, rowing, volleyball, gymnastics, etc.
