Iraq War = Crusade

I'm agnostic, so I don't really give a damn one way or the other. Obama is an asshat regardless of his religious affiliation. His true church is the church of global socialism and his true Messiah is Saul Alinsky.

again, stop misinterpreting the First Amendment and stop misunderstanding what Jefferson was saying to the Danbury Baptists.

How exactly am I misinterpreting the first amendment?

To me, the issue here isn't anything related to violations of the first amendment. However, it does place an interesting perspective on Rumsfeld and Bush's mindset during the period. I don't think of it as a crusade in the least because it didn't seem to me to be rooted in destroying Islam in the least. However, it does suggest that Bush and Rumsfeld had a certain mindset...that there was a divine push to rid the world of this evil, and perhaps they drew strength (and encouragement?) for their endeavors from scripture (many obviously draw strength from their respective scriptures). This might not be that uncommon on the surface, but when I think about the fact that we were waging war....it's interesting.

I just read the top part of the thread.....

How in the world did this get into scripture and Jefferson?

This is coming from Bush Admin insiders.

After the president had returned to the White House, he eventually convened a meeting in the Situation Room to discuss the government's response. Bush barked, "Rumsfeld, what the hell is going on there? Are you watching what's on television? Is that the United States of America or some Third World nation I'm watching? What the hell are you doing?" When Rumsfeld mentioned his concerns about "unity of command" issues, Bush stopped talking to his Defense Secretary and directed all inquiries to Lieutenant General Honore, via video screen, who was on the ground in Louisiana.

He made Bush look like a fool after Katrina.

blame Rummy and not the people who got their city to the point where military force was required to retake it?

So, you're blaming the City of New Orleans' citizens for the federal and state government's 2 day late response?

:good!:

Oh yeah armed thugs were the reason people nearly four days in 95 degree heat for help.

No, it was there fault and/or state and local governments fault for them not evacuating. Katrina hit FL almost five days before and people expected it to pick up power when crossing the gulf.

While it is completely retarded to stay in a place where a hurricane of "biblical proportions"(wording used by the NHC and NOAA) is expected, Americans should not have to wait 4 days in their own country, for emergency assistance.

not the federal, the state and local.

they actually re-elected the guy responsible for that

State I can halfway understand, even though the capital, Baton Rouge, was taking shelter at the time.

Local is a whole 'nother story entirely. The City of NOLA was absolutely helpless to be able to help their own city.

and when that assistance comes it's spent on beer and strip clubs.

I agree totally with that, but in the end the Federal government failed also. There is plenty of blame to go around, but when you have the Canadian Mounted police getting to and helping people in a flooded American city before FEMA something is wrong.

Correct. Plenty of blame to go around. Just making sure Bush and his administration aren't the only ones having blame placed on them.
