Am I to understand that Peyton is the reason for the Colts not having more Super Bowl championships, based on Colts owners comments. Unless I am way off, the Colts were bottom feeders before Mr. Manning ascribed and began what is the greatest quarterback legacy of all time. Instead of hating on what in my eyes is the Greatest quarterback to ever play the game, Irsay should respect and be grateful that Peyton got him a SB ring, multiple AFC titles and put his team back in the map.

The only reason I am blasting Irsay is because Peyton would never fire back, way to professional. Peyton is the definition of VFL. I hope the Broncos destroy the Colts on Sunday.

If Irsay put as much effort in putting a decent defense on the field as he did in that interview pointing out lack of rings, he would have a couple of more.

You are spot on. After how the Broncos let him go out if fear if his recovery, Peyton has never had anything but respectful comments about his time in Indy. Peyton is a class act and makes all Vols fans proud.

Football is a team sport, with involvement from more individual people than any other team sport that I can think of. Peyton can't play defense and special teams.

The lack of super bowl championships will haunt peyton's legacy until he wins at least one more, unfortunately. Besides, the 'how many Super Bowls argument' is simply one taken by haters, period. Peyton is the best QB to play the game ever. People just watch in amazement every time he's on the field, and he's getting better every day.

& Irsay is an ungrateful POS for implying anything different btw

Peyton will show up and hopefully put up numbers never seen in NFL history. The one thing you can't count on is that regardless of the out come, Peytin will be as humble and respectful as ever. He will go up and shake both Irsay and Luck's hands and wish them the best.

Irsay's comments were meant to make the game as big as possible in the mind of Peyton because he's convinced the bigger the stage, the worse Peyton will play. That said, it still looks like a cheap shot from an ungrateful blowhard.

If you had traded away the best QB to ever play the game, wouldn't you be a bit bitter?

I am so glad that Irsay had the insight that Peyon would never be the same and traded him. Well he was correct in some regards, however Peyton only keeps getting better and better. Hindsight and Regret are a *****!

"Without Peyton, there would be no Lucas Oil Stadium. This team would be playing in L.A, right now. I don't understand Jim saying this." - Tony Dungy.....Fwiw, ESPN didn't create this story, Irsay did because he is obviously disappointed that Manning is having success in Denver and losing to Peyton Sunday night in the stadium he helped build will be a bitter pill to swallow....Peyton had some disappointing playoff performances for sure in Indy but the Super Bowl loss to the Saints and the two losses to the Chargers had much more to do with defense and special teams than Manning. Historical revisionism at it's best by Irsay. After my ex-wife remarried a Doctor I told anybody that would listen of her many flaws and how I was better without her....Jealousy does ugly things to people.

"We've changed our model a little bit, because we wanted more than one of these," Irsay says, flicking up his right hand to show his Super Bowl XLI championship ring.

"(Tom) Brady never had consistent numbers, but he has three of these," Irsay adds. "Pittsburgh had two, the Giants had two, Baltimore had two and we had one. That leaves you frustrated.

"You make the playoffs 11 times, and you're out in the first round seven out of 11 times. You love to have the Star Wars numbers from Peyton and Marvin (Harrison) and Reggie (Wayne). Mostly, you love this."

Then Irsay flicks up his right hand again.

Is this what everyone is talking about?

First, Irsay likes to hear himself talk. But, let's not act like Peyton hasn't had a stigma of not winning the big games whether that is fair or not. QB's get the credit or blame for the W/L.

To be fair, if you are going to say Peyton didn't have the defense in Indy, you could say it was the defense that got him to that Super Bowl after Peyton had 5 TO's in those first two playoff games that year. They are talking on the four lettered network still about him being a choke artist. Denver fans say he did last year.

I still think it's still the best team wins but in this sport, the QB gets praised or ridiculed, very little in between.

Btw, Espn said Irsay was saying his words were taken out of context. I think Manning, James, Harrison, Wayne rivals the big three of Aikman, Emmitt, and Irvin.

First off they did not trade Peyton, they released him. Irsay made the right decision, 37 year old QB coming off of 3 neck surgeries vs. getting the next Peyton or Elway. The decision was clear and the correct one. Let's be clear, Irsay paid Peyton more money that year than any player in the league knowing damn good and well he would not play. So let's not act like poor little Peyton here.

Peyton was great and is great and probably pretty much the reason LOS was built, they failed as an organization to build around him but he also failed in big moments a lot.
