Irsay's - Manning Comments

First off they did not trade Peyton, they released him. Irsay made the right decision, 37 year old QB coming off of 3 neck surgeries vs. getting the next Peyton or Elway. The decision was clear and the correct one. Let's be clear, Irsay paid Peyton more money that year than any player in the league knowing damn good and well he would not play. So let's not act like poor little Peyton here.

Peyton was great and is great and probably pretty much the reason LOS was built, they failed as an organization to build around him but he also failed in big moments a lot.

A lot? He had the pick 6 in the SB, but honestly, he hasn't had a bad playoff game since 2006.

Averaging 310 yards, 2 TDs, 1 pick, and 67% in his last 5 playoff losses. That's LOSSES. If we are still talking Jets 2002 and Patriots 2004, we need to get over that already. He hadn't hit his prime.

I don't put that pick six on him. That to me was more on Wayne. I mean the Steelers loss, Jets last game he played for Indy and every time he met Pats. You could even point to his INT vs. Ravens last year. Don't get me wrong I love the guy, his career in Indy was beyond great but his playoff record in less than great.

I look at the Ravens game last year, and Manning's arm was dead in the 4th quarter and he took them on a game-winning drive. 35 points should be enough to beat them. The pick was a bad decision, but he clearly wasn't himself. His arm looks stronger this year.

The Saints pick 6 is on neither of them. It was a pre-snap read based on the blitz package, and Porter jumped the route. It's just unlucky.

He played well in the loss against the Steelers. Vandy choked away his game winning drive.

"Without Peyton, there would be no Lucas Oil Stadium. This team would be playing in L.A, right now. I don't understand Jim saying this." - Tony Dungy.....Fwiw, ESPN didn't create this story, Irsay did because he is obviously disappointed that Manning is having success in Denver and losing to Peyton Sunday night in the stadium he helped build will be a bitter pill to swallow....Peyton had some disappointing playoff performances for sure in Indy but the Super Bowl loss to the Saints and the two losses to the Chargers had much more to do with defense and special teams than Manning. Historical revisionism at it's best by Irsay. After my ex-wife remarried a Doctor I told anybody that would listen of her many flaws and how I was better without her....Jealousy does ugly things to people.

Nothing to be jealous about, both organizations won. Denver short term, Colts long term. As a die hard Colts fan I would have been pissed had they kept Peyton and passed on Luck.

Right but let's not forget had Bettis not fumbled MV never gets a chance to miss that kick. That game should not even have come down to the kick (MV did suck though, usually did in the clutch)

I am so glad that Irsay had the insight that Peyon would never be the same and traded him. Well he was correct in some regards, however Peyton only keeps getting better and better. Hindsight and Regret are a *****!

I seriously doubt Irsay is regretting anything; he made a move for the future and he has maybe the best young QB in the game. Let's not act like Indy is now struggling.

Jim Irsays comments towards Peyton Manning.

Helton, "Yea I have a real problem with those comments. Personally I think he ought to shut his mouth. I think the guy just wants to be famous and for ppl to know his name. I hope Peyton goes back to Indy and steps on there throat."

Lol, a VFL sticking up for another VFL. You gotta live it.

Oh for those don't know what Irsays said, he said we want more than just 1 Super Bowl in Indy.

I'd love Todd to smash Irsay's cranium with a 39-36 personally. Absolutely classless belittling of the greatest QB of all time.. what an idiot. 42-17 Broncos. Peyton is the freaking man.

The only thing bigger than Irsays ego is his mouth.

You noticed Peyton had no comment and will be a perfect gentleman, as always, in Indy. He may very well ***** Slap the Colts though! :)

Agree, he's always handles a situation with nothing but class. Not only will he be an all time great QB, but an all time great Professional.

Irsay is just butthurt cause he realizes he should have never let Peyton go. If I could say something to him i'd say "How's that new guy working out for you?". He's seeing Peyton's success and he's regretting his decision.

Am I to understand that Peyton is the reason for the Colts not having more Super Bowl championships, based on Colts owners comments. Unless I am way off, the Colts were bottom feeders before Mr. Manning ascribed and began what is the greatest quarterback legacy of all time. Instead of hating on what in my eyes is the Greatest quarterback to ever play the game, Irsay should respect and be grateful that Peyton got him a SB ring, multiple AFC titles and put his team back in the map.

The only reason I am blasting Irsay is because Peyton would never fire back, way to professional. Peyton is the definition of VFL. I hope the Broncos destroy the Colts on Sunday.

Can't wait for Peyton's comments at the Pro Bowl about the idiot owner who gets sauced too much. After he and the Broncos mercilessly curp stomp the Little Ponies.

Irsay may have money, but money does not denote class.

IM NOT SAYING LUCK IS BETTER.....but in both players first 2 yrs..

Luck: 15-7
Manning: 7-15
(Crazy stat huh?)

I think Irsays just needs to think before he speaks. He probably didn't mean anything by it, but then again maybe he did. Luck still has a long way to go before being mentioned in the same category as Manning.

I'd put him in Matt Ryan's category for right now.

Yea that is shocking. Be interesting to delve into why and to plot each QB's career track over the next few years.

This in the heat of a big game, oooh what an awful person he is. Jeez Louise! :banghead2:

No QB ever ripped into a guy in the history of the NFL, except Peyton.

.

A) You said Manning would never retaliate because he was too much of a gentleman; he clearly has retaliated in the past.

B) Since when is the Pro Bowl a big game?

I don't know the full story of that video, but I wouldn't call that retaliating. He just saying kicker made a dumb decision, also went on to say he's a good kicker.
