Kind of ironic that he chose this week to make those comments considering that the broncos play at the colts Sunday night. Last time I checked, Manning doesn't play defense.

Who is outraged? I think people are looking at the comments sideways, but I don't know anybody in the NFL or media who is "outraged".

Maybe you should check Dungy's comments. He knows Peyton and Irsay quite well. His comments were quite telling. However, no one is outraged. They know Irsay is just an attention whore drunk.

Irsay is nothing but a raging loud mouth drunk living off of his daddy's fortune.

I could not care less about Dungy's comments. Plenty are outraged, no one dare say something that may even be slightly critical of Peyton. I wish I could find me an attention drunk loud mouth who would pay me well over 100 million including making me the highest paid player in the league knowing damn good and well I would not work one day all season. Poor Peyton

Yes, let's just throw out the one person's comments who worked with both people and knew them more than anyone else. Good Lord. You sound like the typical homer fan that has his panties in a wad.

Maybe if you had a laser rocket arm and a contract that states you'll get paid $100 million then you'd get paid. However, you're just another homer fan trying to rationalize a drunk's comment.

Panties in a wad over what? I could care less what he says, but the fact is he was not being more critical of Peyton than anyone else within the organization. If Peyton went to any other school you homer fans would not have paid any attention to the comments. As a fan of a team that is owned by Bud Adams, if I were you I would not want to get into a debate over dumbass owners.

While specifically discussing the decision to cut Manning, Irsay said they wanted to go into a different direction because they'd only won one title, and then he listed a bunch of other teams that have won more. He talked about the numbers Manning put up, and then dismissed them, because he said he wanted more than one ring.

You seriously can't see how anyone could say that's a shot at Peyton Manning? Even if you don't think it was, you don't see how it could easily be interpreted as such?

Obviously, you do care what he says because you've commented numerous times on it. Irsay is a loud mouth drunk. He wants attention and he's mouthing off yet again the week that Manning comes to town.

I couldn't give two sh*ts if Manning went to UT in regards to this matter. It wouldn't keep me from thinking that Irsay is a drunk dumbass. Adams is senile, but he made his own fortune and didn't have to rely on his daddy like Irsay. Irsay's the rich kid who didn't do anything to get his money except be born into it.

I have been commenting because morons like you keep wanting to make it a big deal and make it into something its not. You must be real jealous of him.

I am not going to bow down to a football player, I do appreciate what the guy did for my team. No other QB in the history of the game could have done what he did. But I will not bow to him like you are.

Changed the model does not mean only getting rid of Peyton. They fired the front office hired new GM and active in free agency unlike under Polian. Polian never really traded or participated in free agency. That's changing the model.

The Colts' owner brought up Tom Brady's Super Bowl rings as part of his explanation for why he cut Peyton Manning. That's jawdropping. I understand why you're defending him, but for you to act like people are making a mountain out of a molehill is just silly.

In his original comments, Irsay didn't talk about salaries. He didn't talk about defense or special teams or the front office or free agency. He talked about Tom Brady's Super Bowl rings. It's a real stretch to argue that he didn't mean what he did talk about, but he did mean all the things he didn't mention.

He never talked about salaries ever. On Brady he said Brady didn't have great numbers but still won 3 SB, why did he win 3 SB? Because he had great defenses.

How is that perspective different from any of the other explanations we've heard? "Irsay didn't mean what he said, he actually meant all the stuff he didn't talk about." Etc etc etc.

My point was that you aren't just defending Irsay; you've been calling people morons for putting any stock in this at all. And that's a ridiculous stance to take, because there's a hell of a lot of smoke here.

I different perspective than all of you who are taking the comments way out of context and feeling sorry for poor Peyton. Did Peyton put up "star war" numbers? Yes. Should they have won more SB? You answer that for me. Irsay said they changed the model to hopefully win more SB he did not say we changed QB to win more SB

Kravitz is a Colts beat writer who's trying to have it both ways. Right after he says Irsay's comments weren't inflammatory, he admits this:

That said, you can see how a manic competitor like Manning might see Irsay as ungrateful or not properly respectful. My personal thought was they were more of a shot at Bill Polian than they were Manning, but again, you could acknowledge how and why Manning might be peeved.

If you can see why Manning might be (and, Kravitz just told us a few paragraphs earlier, probably actually is) pissed off, then obviously Irsay's comments were inflammatory. (Unless the word "inflammatory" doesn't have its usual English meaning.) Kravitz is in a bind here because he can't be an apologist for everybody, but he certainly tries.
