There is no way to sugar coat this...tragic in its own way...but Tyler has taken the first step, the most difficult step, of "owning" it and stepping aside. Strange, how the journey through life passes through many dangerous curves, and the driver eventually comes out unscathed. Geno is an example, accused of sexual harassment by the head of security for the USA Women's Olympic Team, charges eventually dropped, settled out of court...an now the "darling" of many fans who see him as the "greatest" of all time...go figure...

:sad:A married man cheats on his wife - that's not a "mistake" unless he just happened to fall into the bed. A coach having an illicit adulterous affair with a player is absolutely inexcusable. I wonder if she will stay with the program?

Just like Pokey Chatman, he will never coach again at the college level.

What a friggen' shame.

When I say mistake I mean of course he could've used better judgement but he's what 26? I'm 25 and make mistakes all the time. I think it was a mistake to hire him aas a head coach in the first place he didn't have much experience they went off of his name. The guy will learn from this and be a better man because of it. This has to be completely embarrassing to him. Imagine the dudes our age who cheat and just get dumped. Now he must worry about tarnishing his mother's legacy. I pray that he and his wife can work it out but then again the embarrassment is just as bad for her because I'm sure she doesn't want to seem like she allows this sort of thing yet she loves him. Just bad all around but he is young and he will make more mistakes. I hope this doesn't ruin a promising career maybe someone will give him a shot at being their assistant.

If it was with a player, he's never coaching women's basketball again. In this time of heightened awareness about inappropriate sexual activity at universities, he would become radioactive.

He needs to take some time away from coaching and maybe try to get an assistant position on a men's team later.
I completely agree with that sentiment. I just didn't agree with bruin that he should never coach again

I don't think that will be allowed. IIRC from the Chatman incident, NCAA rules would keep him from coaching again in WCBB

I will clarify my statement. If he did have a relationship with a player then his career should be over coaching females

I agree after a lengthy period of time perhaps he should be allowed to coach men's

Very very few cross overs from womens to men coaching. Doubt he ever gets into D1 men's coaching

Just dumbfounded. He knew how hurt his mom was when his dad cheated on her.

I genuinely don't understand why it's so hard to stick with one person. Big head/little head I guess.

:sad:a married man cheats on his wife - that's not a "mistake" unless he just happened to fall into the bed. A president of the united states having an illicit adulterous affair with a white house intern is absolutely inexcusable. I wonder if she will stay with the program?

Just like richard nixon, he will never again be elected to public office.

What a friggen' shame.

I figure it would be difficult to find a school who will hire someone after an affair with a player, but I don't know of any NCAA rule that covers this.

I don't believe that there's a specific rule either, but the NCAA does have an extensive model policy that they recommend schools adopt and that specifically addresses and prohibits this situation.

And then there's this from La Tech...

Policy 1450 - Consensual Relationships
An employee of Lousiana Tech University shall not enter into a consensual sexual relationship with any individual over whom he or she exercises direct or significant academic, administrative, supervisory, evaluative, counseling or extracurricular authority or influence.

Policy 1450 - Consensual Relationships - Louisiana Tech University

Any potential employer is unlikely to hire someone who flagrantly disregarded an explicit policy of a previous employer on a controversial issue.

I definitely think this type of policy violation can have the effect of pushing someone out of the business, but it is not as if the person is being given a 'show-cause' from the NCAA.
