Yes, I do. They upset a Duke team that was playing with Grant Hill playing at about 50%. Then, they got blown out of the tournament. Not exactly a Darrel Imhoff quality legacy.

I suspect there are as many basketball specials about Knight as any coach in America. I think he's made some choices about who he's willing to coach and the type of impact he wants to have long term on players' lives. That probably keeps most NBA talent off of his rosters, but in no way diminishes his ability to teach basketball, game plan and make in game adjustments. He does those as well as anybody else. Beyond that, he doesn't do much.

How many NCAA tournaments has Bob Knight made in the last 20 years? Compare that number to the all time number of appearnces for Cal. That will tell you all you need to know about Cal basketball.

well i know Knight has made 28 NCAA tourney's.....i have no ideat how many Cal has made, which probably means they haven't made as many....of course, i'm just guessing........:whistling:

I think their athleticism overall will be too much, but there's always a chance. We've had good showings the last few years (2 in particular against Ohio State), and we hung in there against Maryland 2 years ago in the NIT. It would be about as good a David v. Goliath upset as we could see.

Wins and losses absolutely matter. He has more Ws than anyone and there ain't many with more NCs. We put large importance on winning, as Knight clearly did at one time. I don't think he any longer sees NCs as paramount and approaches his role in the game differently now.

To be honest, it's been hard to choose a team to pull for because I'm so enamored with mediocrity. Cal has moved way up my list since this thread was initiated.

why is cal basketball relavant to the conversation? who said cal basketball was elite? I bet cal basketball has more NCAA appearances in the last 10 years than bob knight btw. edit: ok maybe not :)
