Is CBP one of the elite coaches?

Bob Knight has 3 NCAA Championships, 1 Olympic Gold Medal, 11 Big 10 Titles, and the most wins of any men's college basketball coach of all time.

He's elite.

Back on the original topic of the thread. the common tie all the elite coaches have is one deep run deep in the NCAA tournament. To truly be considered an elite coach I think Pearl would need a team make the Final Four.

If we have a Kansas, A&M and GTown Final 4, do you reconsider?

Calipari is about where Howland and Self are, IMO.

Calipari has taken a program to elite levels at two different schools. If Self makes a decent run this year, I'd put him up there. If Howland repeats his success with a new group of players, I'd consider him as well.

:)

He doesn't belong because of the 3 NC's or because he's the winningest mens coach?

Not to mention that he has made a farming school in Lubbock, Texas relevant to the basketball world. That is almost as important as his stint at Indiana in his inclusion on the list. I don't like the guy, but he belongs.

elite coaches don't go from the NFL to idaho.

and tedford OWNS ASU.

I used to like you, then I realized today you have no clue.

Erickson went to Idaho for a few reasons: Idaho was a place he really liked and formerly coached. What great jobs were open after the 2005 season?

Erickson is an elite college coach, and obviously a poor NFL coach.

And Tedford owned Koetter - one of the most clueless big time conference coaches ever. Remember, when coaching changes happen, it's not the same program. So, Tedford OWNED Koetter.

Coach Slick Pearl is one of the slickest coaches in the business guys. It is a good thing he is here in Big Orange Country. He is a proven winner.

Somebody look up the Rexvol post from two years ago that was titled something like "is this how far we've fallen?"...talking about what a bad recruit BJ Coleman was.....still unproven, but I think that will be a good one to dig up. I remember giving him hell for bad mouthing a new Vol. He was sighting stuff like his size as an issue....relying on sophmore in HS measurements given by Rivals that were WAY off from what BJ had grown in to.....thank goodness for piss poor Rivals stats and info....it kept him off the national radar. I remember how PISSED I was at how he was badmouthing someone he knew NOTHING about that had just signed as a Vol family member and was probably looking at the posts(I knew that all the guys at McCallie were reading them and giving BJ HELL for signing with us instead of his other offers and were referencing that post saying :they don't even want you there".....I feel bad bringing this up while he's out of country, but THAT was bad form.

Anyone who puts Billy Donovan as the best coach or has him over Pear doesn't know much about BB. For pete sake Billy isn't in the same class as Coach Knight/Coach K or Coach Williams. To even suggest such is utterly rediculous. Bruce has kicked Donovan's ass 4 out of 5 times with generally less talent - end of discussion.

I'm sure Billy worries about that while he shines up his rings.
