Is Dooley watching?

Ok, I can accept that. I don't feel you can really compare MLB to ncaa football though. But I see your point.

Dooley was the worst hire ever made in UT Sports. No way you can deny that. Should have been fired after the KY game last season.

Ever?? nope sorry he wasnt.. the program is in better shape than when he took over so.. no.. he wasnt the worse coach ever

Ever hear of Wade Houston? Seems like he was about 4-20 his last year, and lost to Kentucky about 102-40 or something.
I would like to correct my post about Wade Houston. In the 1993-94 season he won 5 games and lost 22. On March 12, 1993 he lost to Kentucky 101-40. I made it sound worse that it was.

When you preside over the worst two year period for Tennessee football in SEC history, then you are the worst Tennessee football coach ever.

Worse than Robinson.

Worse than Battle.

Is he worst Tennessee coach ever? He gives Raleigh a run for his money. Still have to give Raleigh the edge there.

the problem is the word EVER.. nobody here knows what kind of the coaches the early guys were.. all you can look at is their record and some of them are pretty bad.. Plus some on here will make the case as Battle being the worse.. Then you got Wade Houston and Todd Raleigh

Based on what each was paid, Dooley much more highly compensated than Houston. Houston at least had some upset victories. He beat KY and also had a run in the SEC tourney making it to the finals. Dooley hands down the worst hire in the modern era of UT sports.

Because his qb had a broken thumb and stunk up the joint, or because some of the players( maybe said qb and Da'Rick) were prima donnas, and didn't want to go to a bowl game that they felt was beneath them? The only problem that I had with Dooley in that game was that he should have benched Bray, and played Simms, or even Worley. There was dissension on that team between the Fulmer players, the Kiffin players, and Dooley's players. There is still some of that.

Dooley( and probably the next coach) had the misfortune of coming into a situation where some of the butt hurt ex-Fulmer players have access to a microphone and/or camera to snipe at him in a very public way. Just because Dooley wanted to do it his way, and not kiss their respective rears, they decided to unload on him daily. Good luck to the next sucker who takes this job if he doesn't both bend over for the former Fulmer players, and also win almost every game convincingly.

A "decent" coach that doesn't turn his back on former players like Dooley did will be very successful here. Thee reason former players "turned" on Dooley is because he didn't embrace them as former players and made it hard for them to even gain access to the facilities and the program. Not a good move for a coach that needs support.

I don't know if he was watching but I told our friends it would be funny to see him staggering onto the field with a bottle of Jack in his hand, yelling TIME OUT... I liked the guy but it was time to leave the building..

Houston coached 155 games. It would take 13 seasons in football to coach 155 games. Surely, as close as Dooley was to 2 or 3 upsets, he would have had some if he coached for 13 years.
