The question now is simply, how elite?

If Matt Ryan is still considered elite, I think Eli has surpassed him. Still below the usuals, Brees, big brother, Brady, Rodgers. Eli has also far surpassed Rivers, in my book.

Until last night, I would have said no. That was a clutch performance.

Eli should've been league MVP, all things considered. Six 4th quarter regular season comebacks. 15 4th quarter TD's. 2 road playoff wins. 4th quarter comebacks in NFCCG and SB.

After the playoff run he had, including the Cowboys game which was essentially a playoff game, probably.

24/33 346yds 3td 0int - Cowboys
23/32 277yds 3td 0int - Falcons
21/33 330yds 3td 1int - Packers
32/58 316yds 2td 0int - 49ers
30/40 296yds 1td 0int - Patriots
---------------------
61.2% 1,565yds 12td 1int

Even when he wasn't putting up big numbers in their last playoff run to the Super Bowl, he still completed a high percentage and didn't turn it over.

20/27 185yds 2td 0int - Bucs
12/18 163yds 2td 0int - Cowboys
21/40 254yds 0td 0int - Packers
19/34 255yds 2td 1int - Patriots
---------------------
60.5% 857yds 6td 1int

Two Super Bowl runs combined: 61.0% 2,422yds 18td 2int

Impressive to say the least.

Also, he didn't have a single wide receiver or tight end from the first Super Bowl. That makes it even more impressive imo.

Always thought that Eli was good, but not elite---until this season and last night...He must be included now!

Eli put the ball on the money, though. He is a first ballot HOF'er now.

IMO, if it had been more on the money, he wouldn't have almost been OB catching it. Of course, I can't hit the broad side of a barn with a FB, so I can't really talk. :)

Coverage was all over him, plus Manningham lives on the sideline. It was one of many, many tough throws that were totally on the money.

Yeah, I thought it was funny that Collinsworth was criticizing him about that in a prior series, then absolutely sung his praises after that catch! :eek:lol:

I'd take Eli over everybody but Breeze/Rodgers at this point.

I think Brady is beginning to show his age.

His dad deserves one those SB rings for getting him the heck out of San Diego. I can't believe people were criticizing him for that move.

There are a lot of Chargers fans in Utah, and when he pulled that move they developed an irrational hatred for him. This is how 2006 conversations would go down:

Them: He's such a d-bag...{feigning crying} "I don't wanna play for SD"
Me: Why do you care? Do you think he's good?
Them: No. He sucks.
Me: And you like Merriman, Rivers, and Kaeding
Them: They are awesome
Me: So you should love Eli
Them: Huh?
Me: He took his sucky ass to NY, and you got 3 good players
Them: I still hate him

Now they can't say he sucks, LOL. If you would've told people in 2006 that Eli would be the best QB from his draft class they would've laughed at you.

No he's not. Were he to have a career ending injury next season, he wouldn't ever get in. Simply winning two Super Bowls doesn't get you in. Eli has been far too inconsitent prior to this past season to merit consideration. Now, if he strings together a few years like this last one(he doesn't necessarily have to win the SB), he'll get in.
