Is Heupel too loyal?

Start about the 3:40ish mark and tell me Beasley is happy with how disciplined this team is or has been

Clearly, the smart move was to ride with two scholarship quarterbacks and hope for the best.
Clearly you are talking out of your rear having NO knowledge whatsoever about who was available to them or whether they were better than UT's walk ons.
Melton is like fetch. Heupel keeps trying to make fetch a thing but it just doesn’t work. I love Heupel but Milton is not built to run this offense. I really believe in the system and you know who would have been a perfect fit for the Veer and Shoot? Brenan Armstrong or Devin Leary.
Armstrong maybe? Leary? Don't think so.

But even if they were as good as you think did either of those guys have interest in going in to "compete" for the job? Leary was clearly brought in to be the starter. The drop off to their next guy(s) is MUCH sharper than UT's. Same at NCSU. Both guys were essentially guaranteed to start.

As for Armstrong specifically, they've played UConn, ND, and VMI. Here are his stats: 66/105 for 679 yds, 3 TDs/3 INTs. His QBR is 120.9.

For comparison, Milton is 62/97 for 716 yds, 6 TDs/1 INT. His QBR is 144.3.

I’d love to get other’s thoughts on Heupel’s loyalty to his players. Is he too loyal? Putting Milton talk aside and looking at the Mincey “suspension”, then Hadden’s consistent playing time, inconsistent/mediocre players getting more reps than others, and discipline issues on the team, it just seems like there’s a huge lack of discipline going on. And maybe loyalty isn’t the best word choice, but I’m genuinely curious your all’s take on this.
And to add, there’s nothing wrong with being loyal to your guys, but it just feels to me that Heupel is afraid of disciplining at times.
I was just wondering some things along the same lines. I mean poor OL play and then we see Mincey get slammed for pot. He is one of our better linemen is’t he? Did he play in the FL game?

I am not sure its a loyalty thing as much is its a lack of depth and talent. However, I am not sure about the coaching staff as a whole. I thing CJH came into the program at a time when there were players that were talented and it showed last year. Its just not the same. I think we can scratch out a few wins but I do not see it being close to the season we had last year and the scary part is if this is going to now be a few year decline since the portal and nil is an obvious game changer..

You clearly have too much time on your hands if you’re seriously criticizing my posting habits. I’d recommend praying to G-zus, maybe he’ll fix my wayward ways.
Wasn't criticizing. Analyzing. Again, different from most threads. Almost every other post was from you defending/refuting others takes. As seen in me being challenged for my post regarding this thread.
You don't need me to pray for you, I will since you asked. You can do all that by yourself. He hears the prayers of sinners like me.

Okay let’s start with 2021 and his insistence on playing Melton over Hooker. He lucked himself into Hooker. Then, knowing he signing Nico, he pigeonholed himself into the binary option of Nico or Melton. I know the brain trust on the board seems to believe that a walk-on might be able to play but, truthfully, he should have signed one of the many QBs in the portal this last offseason for competition for Melton. No one wants Nico to play this year. Not even Hepuel. There, you’ve been enlightened, kemo sabe.
Who is Melton? So enlightening. Thanks Tonto.

The best coaches adjust offensive strategy to personnel. CJH will have to do that and fast to finish this as a successful season. Hurry up may not work with a qb that doesn't see the field , is slow on reading progressions and hasn't shown he can throw on the run or even run "with intent" when he has to. Fixing the OL may help some. I see even bigger problems with a Defense that disappears if you out work a stellar front seven. Many more problems than QB selection.

One thing to consider is that he’s only 45. It’s hard managing people at that age especially teenagers. Now that being said he’s seen good examples over the years but when it’s your ass on the line, pulling that trigger is different. Good management comes with age, experience, and patience. I feel like most men start figuring out life around 45.

I find this notion to be hilarious. So after what Heupel has accomplished here, we have fans who think he could be on the level of Butch or Pruitt. Meaning, he would make the same dumb mistakes as they did. Wow.

You can’t even spell Milton’s name right and you expect someone to take you serious? Your whole post is invalid. What team do you coach? None would be my guess.

I mean, it’s an anonymous message board. I don’t think it’s meant to be taken seriously but with a large grain of salt. But thanks for pointing out my typo. I’ll go back to rallying my boys in NCAA 14 for this next run at the play off.
