I also think its safe to say that we are the UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE and we sale our selves. Don't get me wrong he is a hard worker but all he is doing is selling is the University of Tennessee. Guys its not like we don't have a product that people want.

I can be unbiased and say as much of the slim ball factor that kiffin contained, he was able to bring in top players (whether it was within the rules or not is a topic for a different time.) He sold Bryce Brown to UT, kept Oku, and pulled J. Jackson and Nuke last minute. Sure the staff was a huge part of that, but Kiffin was driving the car. I think he is a very good recruiter. I am pleased with Dooley. I hope he can restore UT back to "UT". That being said, I am not willing to say he his as good a recruiter as Kiffin. This time next year, I might give him that crown, but we just don't have enough to go on quite yet. Go Vols.

Dooley has well.... Dooley and a couple of other people...

As much as we all say (including Hammy and CDD) these guys should be coming for the school, Rivera and Nash both cited their position coaches as big players in their decisions. Rivera mentioned the facilities as well.

So these "couple of other people" matter to these kids, including *gasp* the guy fired from Memphis.

I trust CDD hired each of these assistants for what they will bring to the program. I really hope the DC is a winner, but in the short time CDD has been on the job, I'd say the results speak for themselves.

To come play for you? No, I wouldn't and neither would they. Now could a coach with experience bring a couple of these guys in, yes...

Good grief...I wasn't aware we were role playing. I apologize if I offend you because I won't say Dooley is better than Kiffin b/c of he got two 2* kids to commit. I like Dooley, but there is not enough body of work to compare the two.

Mr. Chaney recruited Bryce Brown if you want to be technical. Most of the recruits are saying Dooley has a vision, a plan, and the intensity to achieve it. Combine that with the fact that we are UT... well, the results are obvious.

In a used car salesman kinda way, I concede Kiffin may have better results ESPN-wise. ie We'd make a bigger splash.

Substance, who knows, he ignored the OL last year, and got a ton of playmakers.

So if CDD builds a better team, and makes a smaller splash, I'll take CDD. The jury is still out.

Kiffin may land the class of the century at SC next week. Then we'll just have to see who's the better coach. That's the next poll.

Well said....the proof is in the pudding and the pudding gets made on saturdays.

So what is everyone's opinion that CDD could be doing better? I think that it is safe to say that almost everyone is either moderately pleased to very happy with his job upto this point, but what could he have done better, if anything? I personally don't know of anything. I didn't think he would have done this good bringing in the talent in such a short time frame/lack of staff. Anyway, keep up the good work. Look forward to NSD! GBO!!!!

U will learn not to disagree with cascade11, VNooga. He was busy slamming me and stj18 last night because we disagreed with him on the Crump recruitment.

He slams me daily because i think Ambles is long gone and won't say otherwise to pacify him..

Take it with a grain of salt. GBO

SC like ND and Fla, pretty much recruit themselves. Even in ND's down years they bang down their door.

Point taken:hi:

I honestly am not trying to ruffle any feathers, but I am also not going to say Kiffin sucks because he left us high and dry. Did it sting, hell yeah it stung....but he is a good salesman...I won't deny that...he sold most of us....

And we all witnessed how that worked out

Thats what I was kind of alluding to, the Ambles heist. I have heard that he doesnt exactly exude character nor class. I guess thats the kind of recruites he covets. Character be damned, as long as you can ball for me.

Fulmer got some top 5 classes (they failed) and K got a good class as well.

WE need to realize that UT is a great place to play with GREAT history and GREAT facilities.

WE ARE UT!

Lets STAY fans, and STAY in ORANGE

You said you could, you can't. That's all I'm saying.

You couldn't get Neal, loften, or stone (who kiffin couldn't) get either.

I actually don't think Dooley is better at all, I was kiffin fan before he came here and was when he was here. Dooley might become better than kiffin but I don't think he is a better recruiter yet.

Looking at Kiffin's 2009 class, he had 2 five* and 9 four*.

He gets credit for all of those, even though some relationships were in place before he arrived.

Right now CDD gets credit for 4 four* and, if we pull Rogers, 1 five*.

He gets no credit for any of the keepers, even though he may be the reason some/all of them stayed.

Perception-wise, that describes worst case (kiffin getting all the credit, CDD getting none).

If we keep the current list, and add a couple 4*, CDD will blow away Kiffin in any comparison when you think of how and when Kiffin left, and what he did to the incoming coach.

I am cautiously excited about our new HC and believe we will know a ton more about him around the third Saturday in October , win or lose..

Kiffin and that staff can recruit, period. An argument to the contrary is rediculous. That being said, other than a few things so far, IMO CDD is doing quiet well..

Give me a UT shirt, a clipboard and the status of asst. speacial teams coach, and I will get Nash Nance and Martaze Jackson signed.

I agree on all fronts. I like that there is some integrity restored. I think that will roll over on saturdays.
