I'm no birther, but he won the election as well as the Nobel Prize because of what he wasn't: George Bush. Not saying McCain was a better candidate, but people downplay how badly this country wanted to separate from Dubbya.

And yes, people realized that when Clinton left office, the economy was pretty much as healthy as can be. It's amazing that one guy can screw a country as much as W did.
