He has laryngitis from yelling the entire game :)

In all seriousness I have no idea.

She has a concussion. She may be out a while like Massengale was last season. Then again she may play Monday never know about these type injuries.

Well, she hasn't turned the ball over 5 times a game lately. Rest will do her good.

Actually, Harrison, Burdick and Moore turn over at the highest rate at about 1 turnover every 9 minutes played. Jones turns it over at a little slower pace. She has done a little better job this year. She has to be commended for doing a little better at securing the ball.

Jones badly needs to be on the court and learning how to be a basketball player. Another freak Vol injury. I've been watching BB, men and women, for 20 years and not sure I've ever heard of player who missed a lot of time with a concussion issue--though I'm sure it has happened. It's now happened to us twice in two years, not to mention Russell's feet problem and Tucker's many difficulties and Warlick's many issues. Sheesh.

Its a totally new world with regard to how concussions are handled. There are all sorts of tests that the player has to pass before they are allowed on the court. The team trainer and coach no longer have any say in this matter. Its is strictly a doctor's call and some doctors are more easily influenced than others. The ones who follow the strict protocol are more conservative.

Let me just add that these added precautions also reflect more knowledge about the long term effects of concussions and the fact that a player is more likely to have another one if he/she has not fully recovered from the first.

Also, recovery time from concussions can vary widely from person to person. One my son's soccer team, two players had concussions (both from head to ground contact). One player was back on the field in 2 weeks. Another missed 2 months of school because he could not tolerate light or noise. These injuries are nothing to mess around with. As a sports medicine doctor I know is fond of saying, we can fix knees, brains not so much....

I believe this is not her first concussion either. Didn't she miss time last year for the same problem? That would mandate being extra cautious with her recovery.

What is odd about concussions is that it is rare for an NFL player to miss more than two weeks--and a majority of pro football players miss only one week. More than a few are playing the next week! Massengale gets slapped in the face and misses the last two months of the year. If Jones is out for an extended period, her potential to really become a decent player, and really help this team, will be shot. To say that she needs this year to improve her very, very raw game would be an understatement. This team has had a lot of freak stuff. Frustrating.

Wow. These statements are just mind-boggling. Did you not read anything about Massengale's injury last year? It was her 4th or 5th identified concussion, and her neurologic symptoms were so severe that she couldn't tolerate light, noise, or many of her daily activities. Your statements sound like you begrudge her recovery time. And are you unaware of the consequences of the NFL's past concussion policiies, or lack thereof? 76 of 79 Deceased NFL Players Found to Have Brain Disease | Concussion Watch | FRONTLINE | PBS

And the NFL also has an epidemic of brain damaged players as well. The NFL is far, far from being the gold standard for managing concussion injuries:

Reading this thread is scary. It sounds like a bunch of Bama fans on Paul Finebaum show.

When I feel secure in thinking we are above the rest, and thankful we are not as crazy as other fan bases, I see something like this and wonder where these people come from, and even wonder at times, why do they exist.

Making stupid statements about serious injuries makes one sound, well, stupid.

The players health and well being should be the top priority on determination on whether they can play or not. I would rather lose a game or games if it means a player would blow their brains out later in life. They need to take as long as they need from head injury. I love the game and they are a big part of my life, but it is just a GAME.
