Is our government the end all be all in established race relations/recognition? Using them as the defense for Whoopi's comments seems like a stretch.

Personally if the US government's lazy breakdown based on Crayola colors is how you want to define race, you can. But if you want to have a real discussion on if Jews should be considered a race I think it would be helpful to establish some metrics on what is a race. And that metric needs to be something more than the governments one size fits all check box.

I would think the Jews/people that actually stem from Israel could be considered a race. And it wouldnt be tied to religious practices. They are a unique separate group with distinct physical traits. Well, at least some are.

Just because there are religious Jews doesnt necessarily detract from there being racial Jews. And those two categories overlapping racial vs religious, doesnt seem to be a conflict either.

I would think there are fewer racial Jews than religious Jews, but I have yet to see any metric for where race has to have a set number or even be only defined exclusive of religious affliation.

And even if their racial Jewish DNA isnt dominant doesnt seem like it should be an indicator of race, sense we accept people far from the racial norms as part of that race. Not all black people have the same skin tone as Weslwy Snipes, but they check the same racial box. So it again seems week to start saying people arent racial Jews because they dont have black curly hair, big noses, tan/olive skin, and big bank accounts.

Not sure what you mean my earning a cap. We wore them during meets, and pretty sure I was allergic to the damn thing.

Were you an athlete? Gibbs Hall was under construction when I swam, so we all lived in S. Carrick.

This whole issue sums up the term "race." There really isn't a very good hard definition of the term.

In ancient times, any foreign nation would be considered a separate race. So for example Canadian vs. USA would be different races. However, back then, there wasn't melting pot nations like the USA where there are many different groups that classify them as separate races. In the ancient world you were Carthaginian, Roman, Greek, Macedonian, Illyrian, Jewish, Assyrian, Medean, Persia, Gallic, etc. It was well-defined terms. This continued until more into the modern era when it became more focused on skin color than actual nationality.

Let's take the Basque people. They have the highest concentration of rh negative blood of any group in the world. The Basque language itself is not related to any other language in the world. They are their own unique race/ ethnic group.

Well, that's different; Hiliary is a dem - they can say whatever or hold conflicting opinions without being hypocrites.

A lot of the current problem seems to stem from overuse of the word "racist". It's short, easy, and often used by one political group - the race card has been a debate ender for years; toss that and automatically label the offending person on the other side of the debate as a deplorable unworthy of having an opinion. Even the debate about people in the US of European heritage abusing the "rights" of the people from south of the border to be here is considered racist when the funny fact is that those people are simply descendants of other Europeans who conquered the native people living south of our border.

I follow the spirit of the law.
I don’t eat things I’m told not too. I don’t store meat and cheese together. I will absolutely eat a cheese burger.
It’s my belief that the law is to be a blessing to me not a curse. Those making a job out of being Holy miss the point in my opinion. I won’t argue with them about it though. I’ll let them me judged for their actions and I’ll stand to be judged for mine.
