Is Kentucky gonna be a problem?

If you think Kentucky being trash tonight is a reason to think they aren’t a threat, then go ahead and look at their losses before they swept the Vols last season. Very few teams on this league you can sleep on, Vandy being one. Doesn’t mean I don’t think UT can’t or won’t beat them, but if you all think tonight’s game is reason to take them lightly, then you don’t remember history very well. Even Billy G’s teams got wins against UT, two of them while UK wasn’t ranked and UT was, one of them was at home when IT was #3. I’m sure we didn’t think they’d be a problem then either. It’s never a given. Gotta play the games .
Yep. Doesn't matter what kind of year UK is having. When they and that crowd see orange, it brings out the best in them. That place will be insane for our visit. If we come out without our best focus and intensity, UK is more than capable of running us out of the gym. Will take our best game of the season to win in Rupp. Even then, I'm not sure even that can overcome the ruperees. I'm betting we have 3 players foul out... minimum.

This new guy they just got cleared ZVONIMIR IVISIC is kinda scary in his first action vs UGA 16 mins 13 points, 5 boards and 3 blocks made 3-4 from 3. This kid is 7-2 giving them 3 legit 7 footers
The exploitation of our inability to defend tall post players is about to be tested.

I think we’ve seen enough of the conference games that things are starting to become more clear. Tennessee is the one proven team in the SEC. Auburn looks good but no quad 1 wins yet so still unproven. Kentucky and Bama are talented but have been proven a bit soft especially on defense. Things could change due to injuries or huge improvements my Kentucky or Bama but they’re running out of time. We’re starting (3) 5th year seniors and (2) juniors that have a bunch of experience together. Right now it’s a Auburn / UT battle for the top

Auburn has the easier SEC schedule. Always seems to work out that way. Happened last 2 times they won the conference.

Santi will have 2 fouls right after the 16 min. timeout.
Aidoo will be lucky to get 8 minutes in first half and 20 min in the game.
Knecht may be benched with fouls in first half.

All this is probable in Rupp. Could be 66-58 Tenn loss. Played in Knox., look for Vols 92-84

Kentucky is simply not gonna play this way against Tennessee. We will have to beat them at their best. The most likely result is a home and home split but I feel slightly better about our chances at Rupp because we can throw that same type of physical defense at them.

Cal should have pressured SC from the start. Gone full court press in the 2nd half. Barnes did it vs Ga & it worked. You can’t let teams carve you up like that. Ky played D for 10-15 secs in the possession. SC got easy shots deep in the shot clock.

Ky will still be a top 3 team in the SEC, maybe 1 but if they can’t defend for 30 secs, they’re not going far.
Yep, they should have pressured from the start, they let USCe get comfortable. The inbounds under goal play SC ran when the guy breaks for the ball defended well with no pass goes around again & the D guy just let him go on 2nd circle for a layup, 2 times same play. Cal pulling at his already thin hair:oops:

Definitely have had issues with big physical post players. I witnessed two of them personally in Hawaii. Then had issues at NC and MS State. But none of the KY big men are in that category. If Aidoo gets in foul trouble though, we’ll have issues inside. Love Awaka but he’s just not tall enough to deal with multiple 7 footers. Estrella will have to step up.

I like the way UT has been using JP, slowly easing him in to big games. He seems to be getting more comfortable on the floor and he has been productive. Kid's going to be star in a couple of years, but can and I believe will help this team win some games, this year

remember when Santi debuted...he hit like 20 3's or somewthing...point is, no one knew who he was or how to play him..that will come to an end soon

Agree. Solid kid. Met his parents at the games in Hawaii and they were extremely nice folks.

Kentucky's game plan should be let Knecht shoot it 40+ times. Let him get his and don't let anyone else score again

This could be a game where Cade Phillips gets a few minutes of playing time if the fouls pile up inside.
