I had as us between 7-5 and 9-3 also with 7-5 being a bad sign of happened, 8-4 being good progress, and 9-3 being great progress. Obviously the goalposts have moved a bit.
Now, I have 11-1 as most likely with 10-2 possible if we let one get us past us, but 12-0 also being possible and even likely if we get past Georgia. Any of those results and I’m still through the moon with happiness. 11-1 means we took care of business in the games we were supposed to. 12-0 speaks for itself.
10-2 means we dropped one we probably shouldn’t, but every team can have a bad game where they maybe overlooked someone. I think the coaches will stop this from happening, but even Saban coached teams have close calls against opponents they shouldn’t now and again. If they weren’t so talented they would lose a lot more. The intensity we saw with the starters against UT Martin was really good to see.
I’d still see 9-3 as a good season but also be disappointed as it would mean we drop Georgia and then two teams we should not lose to if we prepare properly and take care of business. I mean it would obviously get a lot of people complaining, but depending on the games themselves and how we lost, I believe the staff could right things for the next season.
Remember, our win-loss isn’t the only thing going for us: it’s also who we beat and how exciting we have been. We only get scarier as our talent improves.
Anything less than 9 wins and I think while it will have been a cool season where we did some great things, the ending would be very disappointing and while I wouldn’t lose faith entirely I would be a little pessimistic about whether we can fix those kind of issues.
