Is Stokes Coming Back?

Big mistake if he leaves. Hopefully he doesn't listen to the people filling his head with " pie in the sky" info that isn't accurate. If he comes back and works on his game, gains some explosiveness, and gets a lot of notoriety due to the Vols having a great year, he could become a first round pick.

A lot of people didn't think Tobias Harris was ready either.

He's just 20 years and in 26 games(19 starts) with Orlando he's averaging 17.2rebs 8.5rebs 2.1asts 1.4blks 0.9stls on 45.4% from the field, 32.1% from behind the arc and 75.0% from the line.

I want Stokes back but who says he doesn't return only to get Scotty Hopsoned? NBA likes to draft on potential and sometimes the more they see you at the college level, the more your stock drops. So I'm not exactly sure returning is smart and who knows if Martin will help him improve at all. Or maybe he gets injured and tumbles down the board like PJ3 and Sullinger. So many variables and to flat out say the smart choice is to return isn't necessarily true.

There are reasons to stay and reasons to go. Personally, I might go based on potential but that's just me. Lance Stephenson was another 5* recruit and left after his freshman season. He wasn't ready and because of it, he was drafted in the middle of the 2nd round. Now though, he's starting on what will be the #3 seed in the East this season. If you're talented, you'll have a chance to figure it out in the NBA. Being as highly rated as Jarnell Stokes was coming out of high school, he better dominate the college world in his 3rd season or his stock will take a hit and he will fall down the draft boards. Everybody gets drafted on Kentucky based on potential... Daniel Orton has been a nothing. Teague wasn't very good this year. Brandon Knight hasn't lived up to the billing. These guys were all smart to leave asap though. If they had stuck around and didn't dominate, they wouldn't have been drafted where they were. Teague was almost a 2nd round pick as is and Daniel Orton wouldn't be drafted let alone a 1st round pick.

I'll gladly take Stokes back though. It would be nice to actually make the tournament again.

Tobias Harris was a polished smooth offensive player who was just undersized at the 4. Every1 knew he was a lottery pick. Stokes will be lucky to get turned down from an NBA summer camp. Hope he haves fun chillin with Scotty in Europe

If he is both will be pulling in 6 figure tax free money which still aint too bad by most standards. In a side note why the hate on two guys who never created one problem at UT. By all accounts they are both really good guys.

Like I have said before, all I hear is desperate UT fans. Folks, Stokes is good enough to go to the NBA. He would prob be a late 1st pick and He would go to a decent -good team. A coach could eaisely work with him on his shooting and hes already a great rebounder and finishes well in the paint. Tennessee fans are all just sitting there, praying to God he comes back so they have s CHANCE at the Big Dance nxt yr. Oh and fyi, even with Stokes, Maymon, etc, Ya'll aint beating Kentucky next year. I, However, never have to worry bout my team making the tourny.

Because he's mad that a guy who represents the University better than he does will be making 10x more than he does.

Who is "your" team? You like the Redskins, Pistons, Braves, and Vols football and then talk **** about vols basketball? And you live in Kentucky?

You are one of the most misguided "fans" I have ever seen. I kinda feel bad for you.

And you definitely can't spell. Eaisely was misspelled by you twice. how hard of a word is that? Kinda makes sense that you're a bandwagon fan.

First off son, I don't live in Kentucky. Second, my college basketball team is and always be the best and it's not Kentucky either. It is funny to see all you dumb UT basketball fans get defensive when an honest opinion about your program is said.

So, you're a Tennessee football fan, and you're coming on to volnation.com and bragging about having a better basketball team to cheer for than Tennessee? Awesome. :eek:k:

Listing your location as The Ville and bragging about a basketball team is going to cause people to think you're in Louisville.
Don't call anyone "dumb" when all of your posts are begging to be proofread.
And, the only thing we're defensive about is the audacity of a Tennessee football fan dumping on Tennessee basketball on a Tennessee basketball forum. That's worse than a UK or Memphis troll.

I suspect it is a Memphis troll since they play in such a crap conference that they will always make to NCAA.

It must be nice to be high and mighty. Your evaluation of Stokes is wrong. He may get drafted, but I don't believe he would in the first round. Just too many other good players, and Stokes doesn't have a position in the NBA. There are guards in the NBA his size, and he doesn't have an outside shot. He could certainly refine his game if someone took a chance on him. I am so glad you speak in absolutes as if you know everything.

Yikes. I am not sure McGary is making the right decision, but it was a tough one.

If I was McGary, depth of the draft would NOT be an issue for me.(like it might be for Stokes)

This kid is a player in any draft. IMO
