I don’t understand how all our coaches with their combined championship pedigrees and experience didn’t have the team ready against a lack luster opponent. What is going on? From the disinterested and unprepared look they had today I think Jeremy Pruitt and his staff may have lost the team.

I wonder how or why though. I remember hearing a couple years ago that Pruitt often got into it with other assistant coaches whenever he was a DC but I wonder if that’s the case. I mean there’s no excuse whatsoever for what happened today

Nah.. It's just a bad team again. Got pushed around up front, sounds familiar doesn't it. After making a big deal about keeping our overpaid strength coach. That's why i don't listen to coach speech anymore. Waste of time..

Yep. Everyone is looking for some hidden reason for the result today, but the fact of the matter is that we just have a bunch of players that aren't very good. The youth on the team is much better than the older players but the just aren't ready yet. It's going to be another couple of years before we start to see things improve. Flip the damned roster as quickly as possible.

I recall someone commenting that when pro scouts were at some of the practices they weren’t scouting players but actually looking at Pruitt for DC spots. Sounded far fetched at first but kinda makes you wonder what’s going on. Something was way off today. No one gave a damn and Pruitt seemed like he gave the least of a damn than anyone

I said at the time that the Quart'e Sapp thing last season was unsettling. An experienced and respected player was sent to the locker room and accused of refusing to play. The player basically called the new head coach a liar on social media and the head coach said he didn't want to talk about it anymore and wouldn't answer any more questions. There was never any resolution to it. I still think that was a possible hint at a problem between Pruitt and the players.

Just a honest question . Is Pruitt even all in? I love Tennessee Football, but I just don't understand. Hopefully week 2 is much better.

It’s not fair that we are one game in and all ready in wait til next year mode and no reason to think that’ll be any different. We are facing a fourth straight loss to vandy. Think about that.

No insider info here, but I believe Jesse Simonton said at some point recently that there wasn't a lot of chatter or energy at several of the fall camp practices. That tidbit of info on top of the lethargic mentality the players, minus Jauan Jennings, played with today (as well as the last two games of 2018) could definitely be warning signs of some major internal issues. As far as how the team looked so unprepared, it all starts at the top. I think Bob Shoop was a great example of how a bad head coach can make a very good assistant coach look completely inept. Could potentially be a similar situation with Pruitt and his staff.
