No, not at all. He thought he was just messing around with a buddy. You just have to be careful about what you put in writing. It can be easily misinterpreted and you never really know whose eyes it may comes across.

If you are joking with a friend, who you trust not to post your words to the internet? No, it's not racist. It's only racist if you mean such a thing in a literal sense. It's pretty evident that was not the case with Fromm... it isn't the case in most circumstances such as this. Context matters.
