Israel vs Palestinians

Given the absolute mismatch in capabilities, if the stronger military basically destroys an area the size of Gaza and kills, wounds, and displaces hundreds of thousands in a year but doesn't meet their military objective then yeah they're not prioritizing defeating the enemy fighters or they're more interested in something else, like making the place uninhabitable for the current residents. And it sure looks like they're trying to make the place uninhabitable for the current residents.

I disagree with your assessment. Our experiences in both Iraq and Afghanistan illustrate the difficulties of combat in population zones.

I don't support all the choices Israel has made but I can't imagine a way to neutralize Hamas without massive destruction to civilian areas given how Hamas has chosen to fight.

I didn't think that's the main objective. Hamas dug in and fortified and boobietrapped their tunnels. Going headlong into them is suicide, and the causalities on your own would create pushback from your population as their dead sons stack up. This is also what Hamas would prefer Israel do

So Israel has taken the safe tact for their own. This puts Palestinian civilians in harms way, and Hamas counts on them for their own safety. Israel affairs to have taken the position that protecting Palestinians is the responsibility of Hamas.

Right or wrong Israel has taken the gloves off. It is fighting Hamas under the same set of rules Hamas chose to fight under on Oct 7th. Yes it's brutal, yes Innocents are being killed at an alarming rate.
They've damaged and destroyed enough churches, mosques, hospitals, schools, libraries, water and sanitation facilities, etc. not to mention housing to make clear that they're not just targeting hamas fighters.
Fighting hamas under the same set of rules hamas chooses to fight under makes them both the bad guys. Like you say, right or wrong, and innocents are being killed at an alarming rate.

Ah the old joke about 20,000 new orphans, the one that's by no stretch of the imagination even slightly amusing. Got it.
How many hamas fighters are dead? Far fewer than what would possibly justify what the IDF's done to Gaza.
Well I didn’t write the joke, about “wanting to die”, for you. You do get that, right?

So how many? 8k? 10k? 12k? It’s significant, whatever the number.

I accept that you don’t accept any collateral damage for the area that Hamas insists on embedding in.

But that’s a silly expectation. As is your belief that an enemy embedded within the populace should be vanquished already.

Or were you asleep during the US’s decades long engagements in the larger region?

I'm so disappointed that it wasn't just for me. I'd be surprised if anyone not on medication finds it amusing though.
I don't know exactly how many but I do know it's not nearly enough to cover for the damage the IDF's done to civilians.
I fully expect some collateral damage. The problem is the IDF goes out of their way to inflict it, so it's not really collateral.
No, I wasn't asleep then and I sure as hell didn't support Bush and Obama making the mess they made.

I have no doubt Hamas used many if not most of those buildings destroyed for their purposes. I also have no doubt Israel has made many mistakes and targeted buildings on faulty intelligence, or possibly out of plain spite.

There are no good guys in war. Just the victors........ But I think the days of victors in wars of combat are over. Only victors of economic warfare these days.

Tears.
Maybe if Palestinian Terrorists didn’t hide amongst Civilians, they’d be easier to target.

I realize it’s hard to count them when the Hamas Health Ministry doesn’t differentiate between Palestinian Terrorists & Palestinian Citizens. Are they trying to tell us something lol?
(that’s another joke you won’t like, btw)

I guess Obama & Bush were just trying to make those sandboxes uninhabitable, and that’s why it took so long.

I understand questioning the methods but saying Hamas could be finished in a year or so means you'd rather kill innocents or are incompetent is just silly.

if ethnic cleansing was the goal there'd be more than 20K orphans; or no orphans since everyone was wiped out

if Hamas wasn't embedding themselves within the population they could be finished in the time frame

I understand being critical of Israel but your statement is just hyperbole
I believe this has been beaten to death.
Ignoring this fact is now simply being willfully ignorant

“You can’t kill terrorists, because they may have children”-Huff

Apparently, we can, and the people cheering for it will not be in heaven, if there is a God. You can count on that.

Your taxes can go to murdering women and children in a conflict that doesn't concern us. I'm good. I just hope my family and loved ones aren't hurt by any of the blowback you're inviting.

Lmfao “blowback”….you become more of a joke by the day.

So you'll be voting Trump then? Or do you think somehow Kamalala will cut you a tax refund since you won't be good with what she will get us into?

“Apparently, we can [kill terrorists who have children].”

“And if you cheer for it - killing terrorists (who have children) - you’re going to hell.”

Wut?

How many kids Osama bin Laden have lol?

That’s where Hitler went wrong. If he been a father, it would’ve been a cardinal sin to take him out

That guy's not capable of destroying even that panel. He got chucked out for being an ass, which is ironic because that's why he was there.

They have no problem with anyone being an ass. Mehdi Hassan is still welcome back. Let’s not pretend this was just a principled stand in support of civil discourse.

They'd probably like to have him back since he's pretty weak. I don't think Hasan's ever come out with anything as assholish as what MAGA dude said.

He literally called the man a Nazi right before the comment.
That's not how I heard it.
edit- Hasan's Nazi comment was about others, not Girdusky. But speaking of Nazis, does the name Richard Spencer ring a bell? He used to write for him. So maybe he's not averse to at least associating with Nazis.

The following has some overly dramatic language but also some decent data on how the IDF's destroying civilian infrastructure under the guise of targeting hamas. Albanese's report linked in the article is interesting as well.
