It comes down to this...

Fwiw MTSU would also be my odd team out...they played some teams, but had no good wins.

Boise should definitely be in, La Salle is close as well IMO, they have a loss to like a 99 RPI, so 1 spot away from 2 bad losses, but our good wins are better.

My hope is Ole Miss gets crushed tomorrow, it only increases our chances of getting in. I feel pretty confident though the final 4 will come from that group.

Too late. Ole Miss moved to rpi 50 today. Gives MTSU their 1 quality win.

Where does pomeroy rank us on luck? Am guessing pretty high w 1 poss/ot wins

Luck is such bull****. Like I understand the concept, but if you win a lot of close games it's not because you are lucky, it's because you are good at the end of games.

I'm a stat guy, but I agree. With basketball, there's a certain formula.

With baseball, unless you have a shut down bullpen, it's straight up luck sometimes. But baseball is a game based on luck too.

That honestly is where my frustration comes from. Hearing everyone call my Orioles 'lucky' last year (because of our run differential and record in 1-run games) pissed me off. I had to defend them so much. Haha.

But we had a shut down bullpen, which you mentioned. That was usually the center of my argument. We had a degree of luck, but we weren't a 4th-place caliber team that overachieved.

Sorry. Wrong sport I know. :)

It's not necessarily a measure of close wins. It's outcomes of games based on what their efficiency would dictate the outcome should be. It's essentially kenpoms "x" factor or accounts for the error in his predictions

It will come down to either Tennessee or MTSU. I'm not sure you can hold MTSU's OOC against them, it was around the top 10. Of course, they play in a below average conference.

I think Ole Miss' resume is too similar to UT, and the fact they beat us twice gives them the nod
