It feels good to be back among the elite

I know the season may have not turned out like we wanted, and we may not be considered elite, but you have to be crazy not to be satisfied with winning 10 games (possibility 11) from where his program has been the last few years.

Martin had an elite defense to counter his <60% completion percentage. I highly doubt a comparable showing by Milton with a similar defense to this year will produce that same result.

That is not to say I don't think he could produce better than that and be the guy, but rather just refuting the Tee Martin comparison.

The '98 team also had a trio of great backs and outstanding leadership, spearheaded by the incomparable Al Wilson. On the flip side, Cutcliffe was an excellent offensive coordinator but his offenses simply were not structured to generate as many points or explosive plays as Heupel's.

We have seen him continuously over throw receivers for two years now and will never forget that skip out of bounds last year.

If he is the starter from the beginning to the end of next season, our record may reflect JG’s record.

Milton has had some issues, but he is NOT JG. Let's be real here.

He has also showed considerable improvement from a year ago.

He has a shot at being a really good QB. I am not 100% sold on him yet, but looking forward to seeing how he does in the Orange Bowl. Clemson has a really good D.

Not sure about "elite". Good season though. And we were never "irrelevant".
It was a GREAT season on levels and when you consider where we were 18 months ago; I call it an ELITE turnaround. As Heupel said before “I want to be as good as we can as quick as we can”. I’d say he did a hell of job—we are back and the defense will continue to get stronger and deeper.

As far as Milton is concerned I recall Tee Martin stepping up the next year winning it all after Peyton left so gotta give the guy a chance

Stop talking sense. We got a faction of fans here who don't know what a chance is. And if they did, are so infected with anti-Miltonism, they'd bury the chance on the Saturnine moon, Titan. Then swear chance never existed. Beyond that, I like your possible analog. Peyton raised us high, but didn't reach the summit. Hooker has, similarly, dragged us high up on the mountain side. But we didn't reach the summit. Joe could possibly pull off a Tee shot, and I hope he does. Meanwhile, I look forward to entering the

Pitt went 10-2 in the regular season last year and had a receiver win the Bilitnikoff, few here would have called them elite. Like I said, if we finish 11-2 and in the Top 6, I think it'd be fair to say that's an elite season. If we finish 10-3, it's a good season and a step in the right direction.
They didnt sniff the playoff tho, they didnt have any quality wins other than Clemson really and they didnt have any of the buzz around them that we've had this season, two completely different situations imo.

The next "elite" season we have will be the first since 1998.

I guess its all perspective, we were in the headlines as much as Georgia, Bama, Ohio State, whoever this year, we were in the playoff running, we had a Heisman candidate till very late in the year, we had a Biletnikoff winner and C.O.T.Y winner, I dont think in 98 we actually had those kind of achievements albeit the ultimate achievement was attained, the whole point of the post was not we are a elite program again but just that its nice to be in the same conversation with the elites again like we were in years past.

If you say so.
Goin off memory and I glanced back at their schedule and wins, they played no one but Clemson and Wake Forest that was ranked, they played us but Hooker hadnt even taken over yet in that game, idk, tell me what im missing, also they ended the year ranked 13th with a loss in their bowl.

We played an elite team and got walked. I'd say we had a nice season. Looking forward to hopefully winning the East and playing for the SEC title, if it still means anything...

If elite has nothing to do with on field results, then yes. We recieved elite media attention. I have to agree. A couple of nice awards too. Next year for the elite wins.

Yea, thats all I was sayin, its just nice to be back in the conversation with the power players again, its nice to have our guys recognized again, to be one of the teams that get talked about. Year in year out its the same teams getting all the attention but we got our share this year and its felt good and long overdue.

Pickett was a heisman contender. Overall last year was a better year for college football from a rankings perspective. There are less 1 and 2 loss teams this year than I can ever remember. Maybe it’s parity, maybe it’s just a weird year.

That's probably about where we will end up ranked if we lose our bowl. Also Pitt did win their conference last year. Look, we've had a good season, a huge step in the right direction, but Ole Miss and Pitt didn't have elite seasons last year despite a similar record to our team this year and only the coke bottle think orange colored glasses you are looking through are making you think we had an "elite" season this year if we finish 10-3. We went 2-2 against the teams who ended up being ranked in the Top 25. 10-2 Bama was a good win even if it wasn't a vintage Alabama team, LSU has 4 losses. We thought we had more good wins at one time than we had, Florida, Kentucky, et al., ended up sucking.

We're looking thru different lenses of the coke bottle thick orange colored glasses, we havent been in the National spotlight in forever but this year when they talked about the top teams we were in the conversation, when they talked Heisman we were in the conversation, when they talked about top receiver in the nation we were in that conversation, when they talk about top offensive coaches were in the conversation, I mean the list goes on and on so im not focused so much on how the season played out but more on the accomplishments and media attention we havent been getting but other teams have and it does feel good to be in the same conversation with those teams, you are correct there is work to be done but dang lets enjoy the body of work they did this year, it was pretty impressive.

Relevant is the word you are looking for I think. We were relevant this year. And it was nice. If we finish 11-2 and in the Top 6, I even think it'd be fair to say we had an elite season, though we need to string several together to legit get back in the elite program conversation.

That is what I would agree with - relevant. Now the question is what happens next year stay relevant or tick down due to trying to replace what we lose this year.

😂😂😂 imagine think being in top 5 in the country and one of the top ten winningest coaches isn’t elite

I'm just curious...how long do you believe Georgia has been among the "elite"? My answer is since 2017.

Your response, regarding Dickey (I assume) would indicate you believe Georgia has been among the elite since 2001.

Between 2001 and 2015, Richt's tenure, the ONLY P5 programs to win more games than Georgia were Oklahoma, Ohio St., and LSU.

Mark Richt was a damn fine coachh and ai an even better human being. He did not lead an elite program. Close, but not elite. That's why he was fired.

Tennessee fans will not settle for this season's results over the long haul. They want more. They want ELITE.
